Default Can anyone help identify this small part?

Kind of random, but I heard a small rattle from my steering wheel/dash area and something fell off. Found it on the floor the next day and believe this came off, but I have no idea from what!

When I am curious about a part or it’s holding mechanism during a DIY, eBay images are the best resource for me.

The answer for your mystery part seems to be the a/c vent clip which holds the vent to the upper dashboard.

Regarding to your rattle, you might want to push the a/c vent inwards while driving and figure out which one is loose. It’s quite common issue frequently discussed here.

I hope this helps.

Same happened to me a few years ago. Dealer had no clue. Essentially dismissed it. But I do recall someone posting here about the same thing. I can't recall what it is but I think it was something rather inconsequential or else I would have done something. Now I am curious all over again!

I have one of those clips in my hand right now. I found it on the floor of my 991.2 over two years ago. No issues to date as far as I know.
