Default Trunk side panels gap (Water Drain)

Greetings,

I just bought my 991.1 C2S cabrio last week and I noticed that there is a very small gap in the side panel. I tried to unclip it and install it again but it seems that I bended it and broke one of the clips while trying to reinstall it and the gap is now little bit bigger .

Now it looks like this

Fixing the issue is straight forward by replacing the cover or sealing the gap a little bit of silicone (which I don’t prefer). However my question is related to washing the car with this gap in place, is it safe or water may leak and cause problems with the car?

i would suggest, pouring some water in there and then examine if the water drips out in the wheel arch. Then you should be save that the water flows through.
Haven't noticed the gap in my 991.1

Default If its the piece I think it is,

try lifting it up completely. Those plastic pieces are Velcro'ed into place, and you can re-position them.

On my 991.2, that area isn't even close to being "waterproof". Water that gets in there will drain away on its own. The only area in the frunk that is made to stay dry is the storage area, that has a perimeter gasket to keep it dry.

After washing the car, I open the frunk and dry off that entire black plastic area, because it's wet.
