Hello, long time Porsche guy from air cooled to a 997 TT which I sold a few years ago. Getting back in and might go for a very low mileage C2 with the 3.8. It has around 10K miles. Did some searches but is the RMS still an issue with that year? Any other things I should worry about? Will do a a real good PPI. Looking forward to get back in the saddle again.

Sounds like extremely low miles. Sometimes not a good thing. How many previous owners? If you weren't going to do it, a PPI at independent Porsche shop would be great.

Well that is good news for sure on the bearing. always thought it was like a grenade with a loose pin. 1 owner and will have to get a lot of things that may have dried up checked out. Really looking forward to the sound. My only downside with the TT was the sound. Nearly impossible and incredibly expensive to get a good exhaust. That should not be a problem with the 3.8.

the 9A1 engine in the 991.1 has no issues , except the very very rare bore scoring issues.
9A1 is also in the 997.2 Carrera models
pdk is also bulletproof..
the 9A2 , the new motor is in the 991.2 and 992 911s and resolves the bore scoring
enjoy⛈it will be a solid car and loves revs.

The 3.8 sounds fantastic. The 3.0L .2 turbo motors have issues with water pumps but few seem to have needed more than one replacement. Their water pump issues seem to be far more common than bore scoring on the .1.
