As a replacement for what role my 911 currently plays as effectively a "daily driver" but having no commute- a brand new M2 CS, unquestionably; but I'd take a long hard look at a new NSX too. If I could stretch the budget even further, a Huracan or McLaren.
But as a car that I can't wait to get in and drive whenever I need to break away, I'd probably head towards the "other" dream car I've always had and probably land myself a gated F430. Obviously don't feel that I could drive that every day though.
Honorable mentions for cars I'd deeply consider are an RS3, RS6, C7 Z06, AMG GTS, Giulia, V8 Vantage, LC500 to name a few.
Other, older cars that I'd still consider rocking today would be a manual v8 RS4/RS5, E92 M3, S2000, legacy NSX, R8 v8.

Definitely not a BMW. Had no luck with their cars in my life (and they were purchased new or CPO). I would go with an AMG GTR most likely but a Ferrari Roma or an Aston Martin Vantage would be on my list to try as well.

I love my 997 GT3, but my old F-Type was still the best car I ever had. It could do everything really well, and ran without a single issue, even at track days. I was considering getting an SVR instead of the GT3, but the 3 was always my dream car, so here I am. I may get an SVR some day.

BMW M (coupes) and something with a normally aspirated V-8.

I think I'd do a 1 Series M-Coupe or a gated R8. It's difficult because Porsche fills a massive space in the industry with the 911 and Cayman/Boxster. It's hard to imagine what would be available if Porsche hadn't existed and if the current sports car market would look the way it does now.

It sounds like the R8 Manual would be the next in line for most with BMW M of some sort as a backup/DD type of vehicle. There has also been a lot of awesome cars mentioned lets keep it going!
I didnt put this in my OP but other cars that I think I would consider are Gen1 NSX, R34 GTR, B6 RS4, R8 V8/10, F355B, Viper ACR, C7 GS and if I could somehow manage to get and drive on a weekly basis an F40. All in a manual, of course. What's worth mentioning though, all of these cars listed at some stage will end up being driven less and less till they were sold off. So for me, its hard to find that car that makes me feel the way only a few cars do, long term, and still do commuter things well.

Hard question! I would probably just get a Miata and be done with it. A few months ago I was even considering that option after my 911 had issues due to a rat chewing up the wiring. Coming from relatively cheap sport bikes, I have always been ambivalent about the cost of performance cars. I could buy a fully loaded new Miata for only a little bit more than the repair cost for my 911. I hope to get my 911 back from the shop next week after 4 months, and I will be very curious how I feel about having it back. Will I love having it back or just be meh. When owning something expensive, I am always aware of the burden of ownership-the added costs related to that. Is it worth it? So if no 911 then I would be happy enough just getting a cheap fun little Miata.

I am a BMW guy I currently drive a 750i stage 2 tuned. This is my first Porsche and I am hooked. If there were no Porsche I would go Audi R8 V10 plus or Mercedes AMG GTs. I love a big fast cruiser and an exotic sports car combo. Wife drives a Range Rover Sport.

I'd probably get a Mercedes S63 cabriolet. In fact, I may still get an S63 (as a coupe) or a heavily depreciated S560 sedan as a daily once I get really bored my E250. Had many BMW's in the past, most recent was an E60 550i and they all had numerous issues. Have had great luck with mercedes so far.

Another sports/GT car with a manual. Miata maybe or Mustang GT with the manual. More expensive would be an M3 with a manual.
