Default Another Blackstone Analysis Please

Hello, I'm a Porsche newbie and would greatly appreciate feedback on my first Blackstone report for a 2019 Carrera T. This sample is from my year two annual service performed by a local Porsche dealer.

Here are the details:
- Vehicle Mileage at 2nd Service: 8,600
- Oil Use Interval at 2nd Service: 3,689
- Oil: Mobil1 0-40W (only oil dealer uses)
- Location: SoCal

Blackstone Analysis Comments:
You'll be happy to know your Porsche looks great in this first report. Universal averages show typical wear for this type of engine after about 3,800 miles of oil use. You used a similar interval and your engine produced similar results, just as we'd expect. Internal parts are working well together, and there isn't any evidence of a mechanical issue. No fuel or water showed up in this sample of 0W/40. Try going up to 6K miles next.

Question:
Assuming I am reading the report correctly, several of the results appear out of range as compared to the "Universal Averages." Should I be concerned as the Blackstone report indicates all components are wearing normally. Just curious what the knowledge base of the forum thinks about these results in addition to possibly switching to Mobil1 5W/40 as some have suggested for a warmer climate? Thank you for any advice..!

You’re seeing more wear than the universal averages simple because your engine is new. It’ll stabilize and likely drop below the averages if you’re doing short OCIs.

The oil is a bit thin, but that’s common with Mobil1 0W40. A 5W40 could reduce shearing (thinning) given how viscosity modifiers work. You could also go with a Porsche A40 approved 50 weight.

All that said, nothing to be concerned about.

Adding onto the good comments already from Zylinder above, it's only one report. You need a few more data points. The trend is your friend. Keep doing your UOS, and observe the trend.

Please read the thread I bumped yesterday with over 14 data points from my car since 2014.

These cars throw wear metals for several thousand miles. They start to really settle in at about 20-25,000 miles. At that point you want to see the wear metals freeze at a very acceptable level, neither increasing, nor decreasing. That's oil nirvana.

Again, please read my many Blackstone UOAs and you'll see the trend (very early), the freeze, and the ultimate goal of extremely low wear metals at the freeze point.

Thank you for the quick and excellent response Zylinder..!

Thank you LexVan. I'll review the other threads and I do appreciate the additional insight..!

Switching to another A40 approved oil is reasonable based on the viscosity test of this M1 0W40 oil.
