I am pretty depressed from this disappointing result.

as you can see, the color doesn’t match with the other panel.

I already knew it would be very difficult to match the color accurately. Still I have not expected that much of differences.

besides the color match ( which bothers me most), the hood looks milky and the painted surface looks mottled.

is it because of the uneven spray of pearl layer? Or the painted area has not fully settled with the panel yet?

do you think that mottled colors on the surface will get better if the surface exposed to direct sunlight?

I called the shop, and they said they could redo the job. The owner said he would blend the paint on the bumper/fender area so matching the color more naturally.

Still, I am not sure i should let them touch my car once again. if the result is because of their low skill, I am not sure they will be able to fix the problem.

Is this a Porsche recommended body shop?

Did they have the 3 blind mice paint your car?

All paint matching with the fenders will do is spread the milky effect to the fenders, further ruining the paint.

I would not let any one at that body shop touch my car.

I'm sorry if you've already paid them, you may have to pay a more professional shop to redo it. Or just wrap the frunk and trunk hoods in matte black vinyl and see how that looks on platinum silver.

 

Get a refund and go somewhere else. A low quality shop will claim the only way to match is by blending into the other panels. But a high quality shop will go the extra mile to get the tint perfect for a perfect match. And that color is so far off that blending would just ruin the rest of the panels.

 

That looks terrible. Take it to a different shop. Looks like they didn’t even align the bumper right when they put it back on. There’s a larger gap on the right side, making the hood look like it’s misaligned.

 

I could’ve done a better job with a can of Rustoleum.

 

Sorry mate, it is 100% fixable and shall not take much time and $.
I cannot believe the shop delivered it like that.
Did your insurance pay? You have the right to call your insurance and tell them about the poor quality job, they will have you go to an adjuster to asses the work and correct it if necessary.

 

Would not ever be near my car again. Further, if they don't refund I would put on google reviews with photos. Guaranteed it was their best guy who got the 911 and he is blind and exhibits poor judgment.

 

That almost looks like Rhodium Silver on the hood, and GT Silver on the body. Did they use the wrong paint code??

 

Dang. If you don't mind me asking, what was the reason for painting the hood anyway? Rock chips?

 

Thinking the same thing, the wrong paint code perhaps? and a poor paint job?

If you went through insurance I would speak with them to sort it out.

If you paid out of pocket I would speak with the owner of the shop to get a refund and go somewhere else.

 

At least it was just the hood! The paint shop I use near me can match parts perfectly so I am sure there are places near you that can do the same!

 

An excellent example of how not to paint a panel. Take your money and run. They’ll probably tell you that you are being really picky and that they did an excellent job. Find a shop with strong referrals from the local PCA.

 

That is absolutely unacceptable. Not only it is the wrong color, the workmanship is disastrous.

When I bought my Sport Design spoiler I had my body shop paint it GT Silver to match my car. No blending, no BS. You can't tell the difference from the rest of the car. So, it is possible to get a good paint job.

 

Unless the shop is really good matching existing color, several bad things going for you. 1. "silver" is probably one of hardest colors to get right 2. depending on if you garage or outside, if the shop is using "original" color mix, there is going to be difference from original color to now because of paint color fade from sun 3. have you considered having them paint the rear spoiler and engine cover so that it looks like it's a "dual tone" paint job along the center? Could be "a look"
