Default 991.2 Coolant Cap Hard to Remove?

Went to check coolant level on my 2019 Carrera T after winter hibernation....and the cap is impossible to remove by hand!

Tried one-handed, two-handed, light taps with rubber hammer, no luck.

I don't want to use pipe wrench or vise grips, don't want to slip, and ruin my day.

Any wisdom, or suggestions?

Thanks!

Put a good layer of electrical tape on the channel locks. No slip. No marks.

Yep. Mine is tight for sure. I’d pad it with something and get on it with a big pipe wrench or similar, the longer the better.

And make certain you’re going the right way.

The 991 coolant caps are pretty easy to navigate. The 986/996 and 987/997 caps were a bit$h.

Thanks for the suggestions!
Righty tighty, lefty loosey.....got that.

Vise grips with electrical tape may be a solution, will try and give an update.

When you put the cap back on (assuming you can get it off), make sure it's not cross threaded, tighten, and then it gives a final slight turn, and it clicks into place with the cap horizontal.

When you get it off apply silicone gel to cap and neck threads. That will solve the difficulty. I had the same problem and at times could not open the cap.

Seemingly common complaint, I've seen at least one thread about this in the last year. Dealership also has mentioned it to me. As with above, padded vise grips and you'll be set.
