Advice on 991 Variant To Buy?

Race Car
The advice I've heard over and over again for years (and worked for me) - buy the nicest, best condition 911 that has (at least most of) what you want, that you can comfortably afford - and then drive it and enjoy it. Trying to calculate future depreciation seems to take the fun out of the whole thing.

You definitely should screw the analysis and go for it. These cars are a "want" purchase, not a "need" purchase. You can't think about depreciation, operating cost, service cost and insurance cost when you buy these cars. All logical thinking is out the window.

Might sound a bit mean, but worried about depreciation just based on which model of the 911 you will buy is not really the right mentality. I think the 991 depreciating another $15k in the next 4 to 5 years is a guarantee, very possible in just 2 to 3 years, given 992s will be widely available and mainstream by then. $15k depreciation on a car with original sticker close to over $100k is not bad, this amount should not cause you hesitation of a purchase. Would suggest considering other model or makes if it does.
Or you can evaluate this another way - would you still consider the car if you add another $15k to the current asking price? If you still want it, then you can feel good about it and go for it

I feel fortunate I was able to find a car last fall. 991.1 C2S w/29k miles, PCA member, all dealer-serviced, 134k MSRP, and paid 65k. I found the car and pulled the trigger just before the market went the wrong direction for buyers. Would probably be 80k to buy it now if I was even willing to spend that much. By the time it depreciates back down to what I paid, I should be a couple of years into ownership. After driving it for the past 6 month's it would be worth the 80k to own it.

There was actually a small overlap, as 2012 was both the last model year for the 997.2 and the first model year for the 991.1 cars. Just like in 2005 with the 996.2 and 997.1 cars.
@SARGEPUG - I'd just buy whatever variant you enjoy driving. The entire 991 lineup will continue to depreciate for some time.
