Default Good place to buy airbag?

Anybody have a lead on a good place to buy an airbag from?

Been on ebay and found a few okay deals but a little leary not knowing the source. Looking for an airbag to fit the 991.2/Macan etc style steering wheel in leather. Not particularly excited about spending $1k from porsche.........

There's often folks selling steering wheels on the marketplace. Lots of times they come with the airbag that the new owner doesn't need. Might be worth reaching out to them - I know I personally have 964 and 991.1 airbags laying around for that very reason.

I put an ad in for one. Probably not as many people with that style wheel upgrading but worth a shot. Found one on eBay for $550 that looks promising, might go with that.

Yah I got mine 991.2 on ebay for around 500-600. Seems to be a good, but I really don't want to be in a situation to test it LOL

You can get a black leatherette Macan AB for $803, that's probably as cheap as you'll get from a dealer: https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/o...0yMDEtQUItNVEw

Porsche gets their safety equipment from
https://www.autoliv.com/

Seat belt webbing, airbags etc...
Maybe you can do a bit of digging with your local shop to see about purchasing direct. Good luck. This is a really difficult dilemma you are facing.
I hope you can get a good deal and peace of mind.

Found one at an import wrecking yard in Sacramento. Came out of a macan and is in perfect condition, should get it in the next few days.

Bumping this old thread as I am about to buy this GT Sport Alcantara steering wheel to update my 991.1 GTS, and I need to purchase the appropriate airbag as well. Looking to purchase the airbag from a legit source, as I'm not really interested in rolling the dice on an Ebay item.

Can anyone confirm with certainty that the most affordable new airbag that works for the .1 to .2 steering wheel conversion is from the Macan? There is a fairly thorough thread discussing the .1 to .2 steering wheel conversion, but I don't feel like there has been clear info surrounding the airbag (options and sources).

Part # 880-201-BD-5Q0

Sunset Porsche Parts: LINK $898.76
Suncoast Parts: LINK $895
OEM Parts Online: LINK $874.46

Most sites indicate that airbags are not eligible for return under any circumstance, so I really want to make sure I get this right.

Thanks all.

Watch out for scam airbags, either cheap versions or complete fake modules with nothing functional inside. Even pro shops have been scammed.

Good note. This is precisely why I am only willing to purchase a new one from a trusted vendor. It's about all we can do to mitigate risk. I may go to a local dealership to see if they can compete with some of the online prices I listed above.

Still hoping more people that have done these steering wheel conversions have input regarding airbag compatibility and part numbers.

I’ve got one listed on here following my steering wheel swap, but it’s a 991.1 so not sure it would work for you.
