Default front open method

On my 2014 991.1 S - I have keyless go and it works great for entry and start up - however my fronk wont open when I pass my hand over the front badge?

Ive read in other posts that this should work ...

Any ideas -- ?

On mine (‘17 991.2) I use bottom side of the actual frunk lid, maybe it’s similar on a 991.1?

it does not open unless I click the button on my key fob

The method I use to work reliably is start at the front bumper with your hand flat, then move it upwards towards the badge. By the time your hand gets to the badge, it should pop open.

@Schn3ll - thank you
that did work ... took a few tries but it finally did pop open.

I tried it a few times and it seems very finicky

Thanks for the help !

Hmm...battery in key fob new? I found on mine, I had to make three tiny "shims" out of small 2mm x 2mm squares of black Gorilla tape against the plate in order to "lock" the battery more firmly in place. Before I did that, I was getting symptoms consistent with poor power to the key fob, such as "key not detected" a few times a week even though the key was in my pocket. Since I put the shims in, I've not had any further issues like this and my frunk pops open everytime I wave my hand at that location.

It's pretty easy once you figure out where the sensor is, but I do have to hold my hand there for a full second or so.

Just spray some water there as if you are washing it and it will pop open every time!

Seriously, the key is to hover your hand in the right spot for a couple of seconds. Don't move it around.

The trick is to place your hand as suggested above and think. "I am washing the car...one hand has a soapy rag, other a shrinking hose, don't open". Never fails.

Put hand below badge. Don’t wave it. Keep hand still. It will open. What is up with all of the hand waving?

the above video location.

the sensor is on the bumper, below and slightly left of the emblem. you don't even need to touch the bumper. just wave your palm close to it
