Possibly heading to the 1/4 mile on Friday
Hey everyone, I am thinking of taking my 991.2 Carerra T to the track on Friday in (PBIR in South Florida if anyone else cares to join) for their test and tune night. My car is Manual so I know my overall times will stink due to lack of traction but I am mainly hoping to see what trap speed I will get in the 1/4 mile and compare to stock. I believe stock the car runs mid to high 12's at 115-117mph. Hoping my car can trap around 123mph in the 1/4 mile as it has considerable power over stock (352whp stock vs 466whp the last time I dyno'd). If anyone has any tips that may work, please let me know as its been over 10 years since I have been at the track with my Supra (which also sucked for traction). Hoping that having the engine in the rear will help plant the power-to start I think I will slip the clutch a bit in Sport + and have the suspension on the least firm setting with traction control disabled(that way the car will squat). Not trying to test the "floor it and the car will hold 4k" launch control method if I can avoid it. Looking forward to others input who have been on the dragstrip in their 991 as well as anyone in South Florida that would care to join!

Thanks, lots of experience at the Orlando Speedworld track in the early 2000's through 2010ish, but havent been since...I hear that track has been redone and is actually pretty good now too (OSW).

Check this thread out as it may dissuade you from the 4k/RPM/manual dump clutch.
If you do it , let us know how it goes...

Supras have been notoriously bad at putting power to the ground. I remember long ago (before I even knew what a meme was), there was a meme about what a stock supra and 800 hp supra had in common, and it was a 13 second 1/4 mile.
That said, I just get the feeling these cars aren't meant for drag racing. I remember dumping the clutch at 4k rpm at least 3 times a week in my SR20DET-powered 240SX. ~250 whp. Stock drivetrain. Tons of abuse. Zero issues.
As others have said, my 2015 STI would hold up to me beating on it all day as well, and that car had ~340 whp. Even a (stock) 1995 Eagle Talon TSI/AWD I had survived a few REDLINE clutch dumps... until the half shaft broke. But the clutch was fine!!!
But the thread referenced above, guy does maybe even just one hard launch and fries his clutch? No thanks. And yes, truly disappointing.
I would just take off relatively normally, pay no attention to your 60' time for peace of mind's sake. It'll likely impact your ET pretty significantly but I have to think the trap speed will be relatively unaffected.
