Default Turbo S vs Targa

What are your thoughts on a .1 Turbo S vs Targa 4S/GTS? Things like one is the top dog street car or Targa's do it all!

I'm looking for a weekend ride for car meets, road trips and occasional track days (I won't run the full time in all sessions).

They're such incredibly different cars. Targa guys will tell you they are the best of both worlds, I think the opposite. Turbo guys will tell you that raw HP and Torque is what matters, I would take a NA GT3 (with over 100 less hp) all day over a Turbo S. Just go drive some and figure out what you like.

Nah. I went from BMW's>C2S>GT4>GT3> Radical. I'm looking for a better street car with torque, ground clearance, no wing and a flattened depr curve.

I've driven the .1 and .2 991's both base and S. Never driven a 991 turbo or targa with roof down.

That's 20+ different cars. Exhausting and hard to do but it is a good idea.

Absolutely. As said earlier they cannot be compared though and one would need to drive them both and decide, and not listen to people like me.

I've owned a little bit of everything. Bought a new 991.2 carrera gts manual. Added tune, full exhaust, suspension, dsc, ect ect. Hated the power deliver (all torque down low) and also hated the exhaust note. Sold it and bought a sharkwerks 3.9 stroker 997 gt3 as a track car (now a 4.1). Recently purchased a 991.1 targa gts manual. Love it. Plenty of power, phenomenal power delivery and exhaust note. If you want something as fast as possible go turbo. If you want near perfect throttle response, better sound, and a manual go targa (or pdk if you must).

There is no wrong answer, buy what you prefer.

Also ask yourself, how many targa's did they sell/do you see vs turbos?

Then get a Targa S and tune it. Many good tunes out there with APR, Softronic, VF engineering etc.

most Turbo S have center locks, giant pita

Most GTS cars have CLs as well (not mine since I ordered it).

Center locks are only a PITA if you are tracking, in nearly all other situations you can just tow to the dealer to deal with them lol

Such a personal decision. I'd say drive both and pick a winner.

Went from a 4S to the Turbo S. No looking back. This is the top of the line for most. I also have 5 lug so no PITA. These are amazing cars that do everything well. If you are looking primarily for a track weekend car then GT3 but for every day awestruck performance the TT and TTS are it.
