You can make any car a DD but you will be sacrificing a lot. Interior room, back seat space, trunk space, vehicle wear and tear, ride height.

Can you DD a McLaren F1? Yes. Would you? No.

@bentlink - May I use your photo on our PCA chapter homepage? love it!

I had a 997.2 C4S as my year around daily driver here in Iowa when I was working and most people thought I was crazy when in fact I thought it was ingenious... I retired shortly after getting the Targa 4S and did not get snows for it so when it's snowy or very cold I grab my wife's X3. When a little less polar I drive the Targa 4S.

I bought a used 981S as a DD to get me back and forth to work. Although the frunk and hatch theoretically had room, the lack of any real space behind the seats turned out to be less useful. I owned it for a bit over a year.

I bought the 991.2 (CPO) and have owned it since June '19. It was used for the same purpose, back and forth to work, occasional date night or longer trip. The 991 is a fantastic cruiser; in 7th I'm turning very low RPM and the MP4S are super quiet. My car lacks PSE and is very quiet on our fairly flat smooth Florida roads. It's just my wife and I but I find the back two "seats" and especially the fold-down back/shelf extremely useful. We did our trip from Tampa to ATL for my PECATL experience, had a blast, and the interior space was just right. We had no trouble fitting everything we needed for multiple days (in fact pretty much "forever" with access to hotel or laundramat, to be honest).

I'm no longer working due to COVID, I decided to just leave last year, so these days I don't drive nearly as much, but it still gets me out of the house and around town just fine.

I added Sound Skin to my rear wheel wells between the plastic splash shields and the body. Made a decent difference to in cabin noise coming from the rear. Very easy job.

A colleague in my office daily drives his McLaren.

I daily drove a 911 about 15 years ago. It can certainly be done but I have no reason to and would not do it again. There are times when I want a bit more comfort and room.

I daily drove an mr2 spyder track car with a cage, turbo on slicks when I was younger. Anything is possible but at what cost. I also daily drove a z06 race car with race seats, full exhaust, etc. It's all possible but uncomfortable and it gets annoying really fast especially in LA traffic. UGH such bad memories.

Absolutely. I was DD'ing my 991 before covid. Dropping my daughter at school before making a coffee stop on the way to office. Plenty of room and comfort even with a suit on (although I wish there were better options to hang my jacket)

the whole reason I bought a 991 Vs a 997 GTS/GT3 was more room and practicality, 991 was more GT-like and less "sports car", until you change driving modes and give it full beans.

its perfection.

The M6 sat low and cockpit like - perhaps even more cockpit like than a 911. The Cayenne is a dream to drive and more nimble than a beast of it's proportions has any right to be but at the end of the day it's much more truck like and has a much higher seating position. This dichotomy helps keep my old, slow 991.1 special
I daily drive my 991.2 and just bought a roof rack w/bike carrier so I can take my bike to work. I have a 958.2 Cayenne GTS as the grandkid/dog/boat hauler. A perfect combination.
