Default Worth an upgrade from C4S with PSE to a valved X-pipe?

I have a 991.1 C4S with the factory PSE. I love it in every way, but want some more volume on the exhaust because Im a child. I havent been able to find a lot of info on the PSE vs and aftermarket X-pipe system. Makes me wonder if no one else does it for a reason..... like factory PSE is good enough.

Im only interested in an X-pipe to make it louder. Not interested in HP gains with new headers/cats (this car is fast enough!).

My favorites brands right now are Soul and FVD Bombacher. They look like virtually identical designs. These seem to be a better product than Fabspeed and AWE with the included helmholtz resonator.

How much more noise do the X-pipes produce over the factory PSE?

I replaced my PSE with an X piped exhaust. Definitely have plenty of volume now.

Is it worth it? That's a you question that we can't answer.

As far as information... yeah, it's readily available, and in spades. Gotta up your google-fu, broham. As soul mentioned above, they have piles of youtube videos and paragraphs of descriptions on their sale pages for the products. On top of that, there are many posts on RL about it.

thanks for the help...... as I said, tons of information of the base, S non-PSE, and the S PSE being upgraded to a system with headers. Not a lot of info explicitly talking about what I want, which is just going from S PSE to an x pipe.

It’s not clear in that thread if the 3.8 PSE people are just going to an xpipe or an entire exhaust system with headers.

Amature Auto has a different car then mine. Base, no PSE. Of course he loves it.

im really surprised no one bothered to stick a decibel meter in front of these to compare them. Really makes me think the gains of the x-pipe over 3.8 PSE are minimal.

Decibel testing does not yield consistent results as there are so many factors, from distance away, angle, surroundings, etc to give a concrete delta. I assure you that the difference is night and day between PSE on the 3.8L - aggressive without being obnoxious.

Here is a customer who removed an x-pipe from another company to go with our exhaust to increase the tone and volume while keeping the refinement. Safe to say he really enjoys driving that car hard...

Here is another video showing several different driving conditions.

His feedback: In summary:
  • The sound is exactly what I was looking for. Much more aggressive over factory PSE exhaust. Quiet with valved closed while cruising.
  • No droning whatsoever when cruising below 3400 RPM with valve closed.
  • Works perfectly with factory PSE option. Why wouldn’t it. ☺
  • High quality craftsmanship and perfect fitment.
  • Did I mention the sound is amazing?
Last, if you're not satisfied - we'll take it back for a full refund.
