Default Staggered wheels

Curious if anyone has run a staggered wheel setup on their 991.1. More specifically 19” front and 20” rear. Have seen it done on a few 997’s but can’t find pictures of it on a 991. Save your comment if you’re going to say it would be sacrilegious. My car already has H&R springs and if done, I would run a slightly taller tire in the front to help with ride quality and wheel gap. Thanks in advance.

There's really no reason why you couldn't. I'm pretty sure the base wheel on the normal Carrera was 19" when it was first introduced. I'm guessing you'd have to go aftermarket to find match 19 and 20 wheels.

There might be. Staggered fitment may mess up ABS, TPMS, and traction control systems, which rely on rotation rate comparisons of the wheels to function. If the overall wheel/tire diameters are the same then it should work, but than means using a higher profile tire on the 19's.

Already found a set of rims which are on closeout. Only problem is the rears are 20” and the front are 19”. I could just buy the rears and then special order the front rims in 20”.. but then that would take negate the savings.

I will have to look into the TC and ABS thing.

as long as you get the appropriate tire sizes there shouldnt be any issues. however, aesthetically it might look funny with meaty front tires and thin tires in the rear.

agreed. Been looking at pictures of 992’s all day with their staggered set up. I wonder what tire I would have to run in the front if I had a 295x30x20 rear. Do you think a 245x35x19 would suffice? Or would it have to be a 245x40x19

if you're doing 19/20 stagger, then yeah front tires should be 245/40 to match oem rolling diameter.

i think the sidewall difference is visually less apparent with 20/21 double stagger set up since the 20s would already have somewhat of a "thin" sidewall. just my opinion tho. i switched to 19s from my oem 20s and considered doing a 19/20 but after looking at how meaty my front tires were, i decided against it.

Just found this online. Looks like a 245x30x20 is very close to a 245x35x19.

here is the link for the calculator should anyone find this thread in the future and have similar questions.

You are right. I put the wrong number in .

so it might have to be a 245x40x19. But even that small of a difference could trip the TC if it runs on tire evolutions right?

245/40/19 up front will be fine. like i said earlier tho, i think it comes down to more of an aesthetic decision on your part if you want a meaty front tire and a not-meaty rear tire. as for handling, im not expert enough to say what changes this tire setup would cause if there is any

For me, this is one of those cases where just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
