Default My 991 is almost at 100k

I’m currently at 97581 on my 12 991.1 I’ve had it since it had 12k and I’m debating getting rid of it fearing large issues may appear as it ages. Had the transmission fail at 47k Porsche replaced it no further issues. Notice some hesitation from a dead stop sometimes and I wonder if it might be needing a throttle body soon. Had anyone experienced having a 991 with over 100k? Is it worth holding on to or should I get something else? I just don’t want to hold on to it and start having some major failures.

Great driven car ownership. They are meant to drive. Whatever you decide it’s done you well.

I am ashamed..
Living on two continents has left my 2012.5 with a lowly 20k miles.

“Had the transmission fail at 47k Porsche replaced it.”

No I wouldn’t own it outside of warranty. I don’t trust the transmissions enough, and if the only option is a new one every time there is an issue, forget it.

Me too...my 2012.5 has 13.7K on it..............at this point I would most likely keep it if you love it. You have what I call a very loyal car that you know well.

ferrari owners will brag how little mileage they have on their car

porsche owners do the opposite. there's a real reason. they have been building the same car since 1964.

go forth without fear!

(2015 with 35k of ZERO issue miles)

My very first 911 (a 1970 911E) I drove to 232,000 miles. It was remarkably reliable and I used to beat on that car so much harder than it deserved. Autocross, Track Days, high speeds on fireroads in National Forests. I even drove it on the sand at Daytona Beach at 115 mph back in the days when you could do that. And I was still on the original clutch.

Sychros in the trans, new valve guides and new heat exchangers at 140K miles, that was it. No machine is maintenance free, but that car served me so well and was so tough, that I'm now on my 5th 911. I think they are one of the most reliable cars ever made. YMMV.

That's a tough one. On one hand, you've already had a major failure and it seems the car has been trouble free since. On the other, you're basically waiting for another major failure just due to miles, which may or may not happen for some time. The fact that you've driven it, may actually be beneficial.

You're gonna take a hit when you sell it already, due to the high miles. Have you considered keeping it and just driving the crap out of it and having fun with it and then picking up something else under warranty to keep along side it?

My car is a '16 and just about to turn 29k. No problems so far in the year I've had it, but I do feel like this will be one I'll pay off and just keep long term. If it needs a repair down the road, it can sit and wait until I get it fixed.

OP: I assume the car is more than paid off? If so, keep it.

at around the same mileage here on my 2015.5 991 C2. With the exception of a vario cam servo (which I believe should be a normal service item) no problems and am looking for another 100000 miles of driving.

Car looks and drives like brand new, built like a ...panzer....without the gun turret

Is this a manual or PDK?
