Default Insurance deductible questions

My Geico policy bills every 6 months and I just got the bill for $2500 for the 17-991 and the 18-971. I think its kinda high but I also have higher limits 250-500 due to personal umbrella requirements. Question is what are you guys running for deductibles on comp and collision. Lucky to say I have very limited experience with claims on these types of cars.

I run a 500 deductible and pay $840/6mo for my 2017. 2500/6mo for two cars seems pretty high, but I've never looked into what rates are like for the 971.

$1,000 - keeps premiums low and saves the difference to a lower deductible in a year or two especially if you have a couple (or more) vehicles.

$801 every 6 months for my 2019 911 C2 GTS. I have 3 other cars (oldest being a 2018) under the same policy. I have an umbrella policy which requires me to carry at least $300k/$500k coverage and my deductible is $500/$1,000. I bundle and have been with them for a few decades which helps.

I recommend higher deductibles only because you're really not going to want to make a claim. You will want to avoid having it go on CarFax for something like a bumper repaint. So even if the bumper repaint was $1-2k, you would be better off just paying out of pocket as with the CarFax ding, you're going to end up paying more than that in lost resale.

I need to adjust my deductibles, $500 collision, $0 comprehensive, which was carried over from what I had on a daily driver, so my agent just assumed I wanted the same thing on my GT3. I will probably increase both to $1k.

Does your policy really have that much difference? Between 250 and 1000 for deductibles it was like $2.70/mo for me.

Insurance prices between different states are so wildly different as to be incomparable.

I would have to check. Can't imagine it is much, probably something like $5-10 if I switched from $0 to $1000 on comprehensive and $500 to $1000 on collision.

This is for SW Florida. Wondering how or if there is a way to get mileage discounts, the 991 will only get like 2-4k miles this year.

You should be able to select how many miles you're driving per year and they should adjust accordingly. I would ask your agent or carrier.

With no annual inspections in FL I wonder how they would verify the low mileage claim

Some insurance carriers may require you to take a picture of your odometer. But that is not very likely. Friend has a State Farm classic policy and has collector plates on his car which in Ohio do not require a state inspection, so they have no way to monitor mileage. I have not heard of them asking him for mileage updates.

For instance, the Porsche Insurance which is offered in some states requires you to take pictures of your odometer and they calculate your rate based on that.

there's no statute of limitations on insurance fraud, so they don't care. If you file a claim, they'll see the truth eventually, and you'll pay for it.
