Driver's Side Door Pocket Is HOW MUCH?
The door pocket/flap on my driver's side has become undone and doesn't properly pop in and out anymore. I took it to my local Porsche dealer (for regular maintenance) and asked them about whether they could fix the issue or order a new part. A day later I receive a call from my service advisor letting me know that Porsche doesn't have a part number for just the door pocket or the hinge and that they would have to replace the entire door panel for $1500.00! That just seems absurd to me for something as simple as a hinged door pocket. Does anyone have experience dealing with this or knowledge as to whether my service advisor is accurate? Figured I would run it by some of the more experienced members here on the forum. All responses are much appreciated!

Are you asking if we are surprised, or, are you seeking advice on where to turn?
Second, first: try an indy auto upholstery shop.
First, second: I am neither shocked, surprised or offended by a dealer quote.

I am thinking there is got to be a DIY solution to fixing the flip down door. That is not a complicated piece. Many talented and inventive people here, am sure one can come up with a solution.

$1500 means you're lucky....try over $3000+ for the extended leather or two tone or certainly special-colored ones. Of course they won't be in stock either. I had to Gorilla-glue my door pocket hinge and then forever worry on my last car. It did hold however but I tried not to use it much.

hmm let’s see:
strip of electrical tape
little bit of shoe goo built up so it holds the flap with friction, till you open it.
or just remove it - which is what I personally want to do.
you could have mine for a quarter of that, if I could get them off in the next few weeks

Those of us who have experienced warped door panels will tell you $1500 is a STEAL for a full door panel replacement.
But yeah, should be able to fix it yourself in some fashion.
