Default Another One! 2014 C2 7MT

Hi! Here is my 2014 C2 7MT, bought with just under 25k miles for $62k. Could I have probably gotten this same deal three years ago when I first started shopping for 911s and been driving this whole time? We will never know. Nevertheless, after starting my search with 996s, moving on to the 997s, and then finally realizing that the depreciation bottom had about been hit for 991s, I grabbed this base model, which I’ve had for about a week and two tanks of gas.

The PPI showed a grand total of 4 over-revs in 1st, so it seemed like it was more of a putter-around car. It’s not exactly a cream puff, though; clearly the owner was living somewhere near the water here in the NYC area, because there’s a decent amount of corrosion on the brakes and exhaust hardware. There are a couple of light scratches and rock chips. Nothing I can’t clean up, but I’ve got a few weekends of scrubbing ahead of me.

My intention is to make it into a nice little all-arounder, probably a little more silly than “beastly” or “elegant,” which probably explains why I think the wheels are hilariously good, while most people hate them. The NA 3.4 is really rewarding to drive, although I definitely miss the torque in 1st and the bottom of 2nd that I get from turbo-charged engines. But that’s part of what I wanted out of a sports car; my experience with motorcycles has taught me that the machines are almost always better at being machines than I am at operating them, so I wanted my first 911 to be something that would require some skills to wind out.

Notable options include Sport Chrono, PDLS, and Premium Pack, and of course the factory color-matched Sport Technos. Nothing too fancy, although I have to admit I like the dumb clock and the rev matching downshifts. The only thing that I really wanted was PSE, which I’ll probably wire up myself and take to Porsche to get blessed.

Quick list of anticipated mods that I’ll be working on over the off-season.
  • PSE install. I definitely want the default hardware, both for slick integration and (while it probably won’t matter much) future resale. I am currently planning on buying the parts, minus the tips which are ridiculously priced, and just doing it myself. I am interested in the Soul system, but would like to hear it in person first. And it’s probably going to be out of my price range considering I want the proper PSE button integration.
  • Suspension: It’s gonna be hard to beat the Öhlins Road & Track for price. I definitely want to get a mild lowering in place, but coming from the 4x4 world I’m always nervous about replacing springs without matching struts. (Although I believe all of you with Techarts, for example, who say everything is well matched. I’m just…a little OCD.) But I really would like to ride in someone’s car with the R&T system before I drop three large on it, even if that is basically a value price for Öhlins.
  • Cleaning up the Sport Technos, filling a few chips, and sealing them. I might even get snazzy and do a spray-vinyl in gold to see if I like that before looking at some other wheel options. (I love the white wheels, but they are definitely “a choice.”)
  • Replacing the front tires, which are almost certainly the original Pzeros. (Would love any tire shop recommendations in North Jersey or Westchester than have good alignment and/or balancing machines.)
  • Putting some dumb stickers on the car that 99% of Rennlist will hate. I’m sorry. I love stickers.
Anyway, there are many like it, but this one is mine. Very excited to get into the community, start to get some training, and learn how to drive this humble, very expensive base model sports car. Oh! And I love a good deal, so if you have any parts you think I'd be interested in, let me know. I live to scrounge.

Also I realized that my second picture was one I had Photoshopped to see what it would look like without the wheel gap. Trust me...it has wheel gap. 😭

Looks great but I made the mistake of painting my motorcycle rims white back in the late 80s, knowing how much break dust these cars throw I think its gonna be a chore to keep those wheels white.

I love that you are saying to hell with everyone and doing your own thing! That's awesome! Welcome and I actually like the white wheels as well!

Sounds like you have a great attitude and are gonna have a ton of fun with your new toy!

Oh, it's already been a real adventure. Once I get the little chips fixed I'm hoping the ceramic coat will make a post-run wipe down a little easier. But it's kind of fun to visually see how hard I've been running!

Welcome, and looks like a fair deal. Haven't seen white techno's before, but luckily those are some of the easiest wheels to clean Enjoy!

Congrats! Very 80s-Porsche-like with the white wheels. Definitely get rid of those Pirellis. If those Michelin rears are Pilot Sport 4S, that's ideal.

great looking car! i'm biased as i have an eerily similar '13 base w/ about 17k on the odo. the only thing i've done is clear led side markers, so you're a step or two ahead on planning out personalizations. drive it well.

Really nice, congratulations! I have basically the same thing in black—also 2014 C2, 7MT, also newly acquired. Loving it so far, and as a fellow moto rider, I agree that the bikes and cars' performance far outstrips my abilities.

Check out Suncoast parts and FVD Brombacher if you like to peruse what's available.

Great buy!
I think the wheels look nice. A refreshing change from the ubiquitous black. Clear side markers are clearly in order, but you do you.
I also really wanted PSE but ended up getting the sharkwerks center delete. It sounds great, like full time PSE w/button pressed, which is what I would have done every time, so I saved some serious coin.
Good luck, enjoy, and welcome to the fold.

Congrats on your P-CAR and joining the fam here. Do enjoy and drive that MT like it should be. PSE is nice and Ohlins or Billstiens are on my to do list as well.

Love seeing these 991 manuals appear on this forum—suspect a fairly high % of the ones made will end up connected to this forum one way or another as the years go by.

Congrats on a cool car, and the good news with those white wheels is their design will make cleaning them easy. Wish I could say the same with my Carrera S wheels. Split fives are a mess to keep clean. Your Sport Technos look pretty easy. The best ever? 996 Turbo wheels. What a snap to clean...

Congrats! I really like those wheels in that colour. Wouldn't work well with most paint colours, but white is perfect for it.
