My wife's E400 has them, too (and aroma therapy--really). She loves them on long trips, but they are more of a gimmick for me.

On the other hand, the vented seats on my 991 are now a must-have, including for long trips.

Alternative is a good upholstery shop that can change out the middle incest to perforated alcantera.
My Carrera has ventilated seats and i use it often. They are as good if not better than my old 2007 S class. As mentioned they suck the air away from you. i find it to be allot more effective than in other cars. but i digress....
My Cayenne GTS has Alcantera seats. The car is black/black and i find it very bearable to get into after it has been sitting in the sun all day and my back isn't nearly as uncomfortable as it is in my wife's 535 bmw with non-ventilated leather.

Just food for thought.

Mine vented seats work great when the top is up but so-so when the top is down; however, I consider them a must since even when the top down they prevent me from sticking to the seat.

Does anyone who actually likes them have an opinion about them for longer trips?

I think they are a must and I find myself turning them down since they get too cold. If you like it cool inside your butt and back will thank you.

not understanding your question. They’re comfortable on short trips so they’re also comfortable on long trips. I’ve taken my car on a 3 hr trip from Jacksonville to Tampa and round trip to Orlando. Both were very comfortable

I end up turning them down to #1 after a few mins and that keeps it cool enough for me on a long ride. Im usually top down in the 911 so the sun can be the determining factor.

Im in Fort Lauderdale and have vented seats. Absolute must have. I also get hot when Im driving long distances but I find ventilated seats when not even on are better. My previous M6 had them and I never had an issue, on or off. Driving my wife's Q5 without them, I sweat. Everyone is probably different in this area so don't expect a concise result here.

They're a must for me. On a long drive with the top down on a warm summer day they keep me nice and cool.

Had them on our Cayenne and have them on our current Macan- great for long trips.
On my 911, on trips of about 2 hours, they are fine. Haven't driven much further than that in the 911. I find that despite the memory function, the 14 way seat in the 911 is a bit fussy getting me in the right position, but it isn't a padding issue, more about my back. I do eventually find the sweet spot and motor on. I have a manual transmission, so the left leg has to be perfectly positioned for the clutch.
Lastly, I have one car (Jeep Grand Cherokee) without the ventilated seats. I love that SUV, but miss the ventilated function on every drive this time of year.

Bob I agree with you, it’s a pain. Mrs Rich’s new RX350 has ventilated seats with an ‘Auto’ setting, The fans in the seats start high, then go to Medium then Low. They work very well.

Listen, for you guys with sweaty backs, let me ask this question, if the OP doesn’t mind: My car is a DD, and I go to the gym couple/three times a week.

I currently use a terry towel over the seat. It works ok. Do any of y’all know of a lightweight stretchy seat cover that’s breathable?

They work great on long trips. In the winter turn them on with the heating... It's amazing.

A strong yes. It is partly in my head, but I feel less tried with the ventilation on.

Being in TN, don’t think I’ll ever purchase a car without ventilated sears again. Love them in my 991.2 but my wives new Expedition blows cubes, they work so good
