I grew up riding 2 stroke street bikes (in the 70s and 80s). They are so fun as the throttle response is instant. The bikes weigh very little and Yamahas handle exceptionally well. I started with Kawasaki H1 500s before buying my first RD400. This past January I got the RD350 as I wanted to go a little older school with spoked wheels and rear drum. The 400 definitely has the better internal gearing. In fact a RD350 with RD400 gears is ideal. Mine has had a lot of engine work. It’s pumping out 55hp from 39 stock, and revs to 12,000. It’s enough to make the ride exciting and without having to worry much about losing your license.
