Is this an acceptable result for a professional paint correction?
My car is 2 years old with 10k miles on the clock. It's only ever been hand washed so the paint was in pretty good condition to begin with. I paid $600 to have the car corrected. This is the result....the car looks no better to me...was I expecting too much or has nothing been done on my car other than a wash.

Sounds like they did not set expirations when they took the car in.
$600 for a detail is NOTHING! That is basically an exterior only, wash, clay and single stage polish and wax.
I would let them know you are not happy, and what can be done to make both parties happy. It is going to cost you more money as it's a ton of work to make black perfect.
Not having good before/after pics it's hard to tell how much work they did.
Around here, and full exterior detail to make the car perfect starts around $1200. it's a lot of skilled labor to get the car perfect. You want skilled labor working with power tools on your car!

I'm thinking this might be the issue. I just drove the car outside and in regular daylight/sun the car looks flawless. It's only under spotlights in a garage that I can see these marks. The detailer did mention that he didn't think the car needed much and hence I am wondering if they just did a single stage polish. This is not a low end detailer, its a well known detailer in the NYC area - they had a few Ferraris, 911 GT3 RS, and a 918 when I was in there.

This is unfortunately not an acceptable outcome (for me). Your paint is not properly corrected. But, depending on exactly what was done, it's not completely out of line for $600. You received what you paid for.

What well known detailer charges $600 for a detail in NYC?? That is a bargain basement detail price in NJ. Detailers are supposed view their work under bright spotlights to catch swirl marks like you see. Like others said, you probably got what you paid for.

I think I can do better job than most of these so called professional detailer in my part of town. Every time I detail my car, it look flawless. I spent money on ceramic coating and nothing really pop more than I can see with my own detail. Also, I wouldn’t do too much paint correction because all they do is shaving more of your clear coat. Maybe once every 10 years when swirls are all over the paint and sealant coat it.
