RAIN WATER entering IN 911.2 CARRERA s 2018
#17
Nick Murray's car was a 2017 991.2, electrical issues and water in the passenger footwell. From watching his videos, I recall no findings as to the source of the water intrusion.

Take a look at this thread, they did find a source for that car's problem.

Not if it was just open a crack....just enough for the water to drip off the roof panel at the top of the A pillar. Go look down from outside the car... from the top of the roof line down, any water would miss the door panel and miss the seat and would go right in the area the OP had issues. .

My parents had an S class Mercedes that got water underneath their rear seats And burnt out some electronic fuses. It turns out, water could get in because the trunk gasket is off or if the trunk side (drain from rear window to side is trunk) drainage is clogged by gunk.
so my guess is water is coming down your windshield and not draining fast enough or properly due to clogging or gasket material when it goes down the side of your hood. The water then starts backing into your car below the floor.

I had water ingress in a 997...
The issue was the line that tube from the sunroof, down the a-pillar towards the exit on bottom of car. During manufacture, a hole was punctured in that tube and the water came out, ran down a-pillar and dripped under dash into the carpet.
The way they found it was hosing car down for a long time and watching...
Very often leaks due to rain are from the sunroof tray, and the exit tubes...
Good luck...... if your dealer can't find it, id look around.

Water leaks r tough to find when I worked in a body shop, we would one person in the car watching, while another guy sprayed water on it found the outside. Worth a try.

a garden hose blasting water at closed windows will definitely show the slightest leak, if one were to exist.
(note: had I read through all posts first I would have seen the sunroof and water blasting trick we’re previously addressed)

Bumping this because after being informed today by a Porsche Service Advisor today that clearing the drainage lines for AC, Sunroof, and body is part of the routine intermediate (2/20) and major (4/40) services, I have set out to find a way to DIY. I’m very discouraged by all the water drainage issues I’m reading about with these vehicles and not any clearly identified DIY solution. This particularly concerns me because I live in a very rainy climate year round (South FL) which is also complicated by the amount of normally accumulated debris from trees & dirt I experience with all my other vehicles. Seems like finding a diagram of the 991 drainage system is impossible.

I'm not a fan of sunroofs and live in central Florida which is prone to rain as well, so when I ordered my 991.2, it was a hardtop with no sunroof.
I've had sunroofs leak and not because of clogs but because the drains were overwhelmed with the volume of water from a heavy rainfall.
These drains should be easily serviceable considering the damage that blockages can cause with the electronics. Perfect example is Nick Murray's 991.2 that had a leak in the passenger foot well. The electronics got fried and never properly worked again.
I keep the car garaged and always look for debris when washing and drying the car. It's the organic matter that causes the problem.
