Do you have a natural overly sensitive sense of smell? Do others in your 911 smell the same unpleasant odor? You may be one of those one in a million that smells things the average person may miss.

Do not apply bleach this will damage the interior and the evaporator over time.
Run full heat with engine warm for 5 minutes, turn off and apply foaming cleaner to heater case (not vents or anywhere else).
Smell will return if vehicle remains in same conditions, repeat procedure every 6 months.

Heater Case?
As in, I have to go in underneath the car somehow, or remove the whole dash board to get to the evaporator?

You can go in through the blower entry or drain pipe.
