Default Spark plug recommendations - 991.1

Hi all

I’m going to DIY spark plugs. Any recommendations on plugs? Thinking about denso IK22 or beru. Saw some posts saying double platinum better than iridium? Not sure

Also, when should coils be replaced?

I’ve replaced my plugs twice now. Once at 30k and just recently at 46k when the Soul Exhaust was installed....figured while there, meh. Also did the coils too. First go around I did Bosch, and this time NGK with Beru coils. Car may idle better but can really tell the difference between factory, Bosch, and NGK. Perhaps it just that’s they were not worn enough to notice a real change when I replaced them. Indy installed, so can’t say what the gaps were set too.

I would just stick with Bosch.

And unless you are having some misfires I'd run the coils until failure especially if you are DIY'ing.

FCP has what you need.

Thanks all. Wow. Those Bosch plugs are cheap at $4. So $24 bucks for the change with some sweat and alittle blood (I’m clumsy under a car). I’ll replace the coils next time.

I’ll be coming under the dealer cost of 2600 for a full service quite a bit. Lol.

One of my coils failed between plug change intervals. I'd recommend changing coils with every spark plug change so you're not stuck dealing with a misfiring car on a road trip, etc. If you buy through FCP Euro, you'll only be paying for them once and then free replacement after that for as long as you own the car. Kind of a no-brainer to me to do it "while you're in there" and they're not expensive by any means.

Here's my thread on what happened and why I recommend replacing the coils as normal preventative maintenance when doing plug changes. It's only going to cost you $200 for the life of the car.
