Default HELP! Where do you put your “key”?

New to me 2012 991.1 keyless entry.
Yesterday I jumped in for a quick run around the block, ~10 miles. I got no response when I turned the ignition switch??
I initially thought I forgot to put the transponder in my pocket. I couldn’t feel it so I got out to look for it. It was there but I had loose shorts with deep pockets and it had slipped down between my thigh and the seat to a point where evidently the reader couldn’t see it.
I moved it and the car woke up and away we went.
so the question is WHERE DO YOU PUT YOUR TRANSPONDER. When you look at the front of it there are indents on each side of the nose. Do they snap into a socket somewhere?

My key is usually in my pocket, no problems, keyless entry. If car is new to you, then i suggest the battery in the key fob needs replacement. I replaced the battery once since new( 2014C2S). You can remove the plastic fake key from the ign socket and just use your key for starting. I tried that and much prefer the keyless style. Your choice.

Maybe your ‘junk’ was too big and blocked the transponder from the reader being able to detect it. Consider it a problem most men would like to have.

more than likely I'm just too dense for the RFID reader to see through.

I leave my key in the arm rest 98% of time. Only times it comes out is if I park (and lock) anywhere other than my garage.

Pocket here.

I will say I just replaced the battery in my key the other week; the one I had in was less than 6 months old. COVID? I dunno lol. What was happening was the car was acting like there was not key, but there was. Plus, it would not lock remotely unless I was very close.

Anyway, no issues since new battery.

With regular shorts/pants I just keep my key in my pocket. But if i am wearing athletic shorts then I’ll put the key on the passenger seat. I find the pockets of athletic shorts too loose and the key moves around making my leg uncomfortable.

The only time I've had any issues is with the key in the door pocket and the door in the open position.

I have a small microfiber folded and placed in the door pocket, which is where I place my keys and no rattling at all. When I drive my pockets are usually always empty...no Costanza wallet for me.

If you have a cell phone in your pocket along with the key, that can mess it up. Somehow the cell phone interferes with the key transponder signal.

I have key on a lanyard. so either around my neck, car door pocket, or on passenger seat.
The two notches you see are for inserting into where the fake key you turn to start the ignition. ive done this a few time when my battery in the key was low/dead and car was not sensing a key. I removed the fake key and inserted the one on the lanyard in the spot and started the car that way
