Black is classic, bright colors are fun, and PTS provides some unique examples. But silver, the original German national racing color, the color of almost all early competition Porsches, the shade often selected by the factory for retrospective comparisons of 911 evolution, is the eternal color.
Light ivory was my go-to PTS choice. The original 911 R was offered in light ivory. I chose it because it was unique and understated, fitting with the ethos of the Touring.
Color preference is obviously subjective. Personally, I think the 911 is one of those cars rear that looks best with some color. I’ve always avoided silver or grey 911s because I think it’s a bit too understated. I’d love a 911 in Irish Green, or Voodoo Blue. The 911 is a car that can look good in almost any color. I’ve been into brown cars for my last two 911s, and I’m pleased with that choice.
