Folks,
I am in the process of doing the serpentine belt but running into an issue while taking the spoiler off. The electrical plug connection clip is broken so I’m not able to take it off. Any ideas on how to get it off? I am hesitant because I do not want to break it but thinking a trim removal tool can be used. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I had mine replaced a few months ago. There was a recall for all 991 models to replace a heat shield in the engine bay, so when they took bumper off etc the dealer asked if I wanted them to do it at the same time since it would be exposed at that point
they charged me $300 to replace the belt and the rest of the job was covered as part of the recall. If I were you I would first check to see if your heat shield needs to be done because that will cover most of the labor for free. Having said that, since the belt replacement was $300 alone, I would guess the price they quoted you isn’t too bad.

fyi. I was just about to hit 40k miles so it was time to be done and not the dealer just finding something to charge me for while doing a recall job

put a real small flathead screwdriver into the hole just above your circled area and push down while pulling on the bottom plug and it should just pop off.

I think it’s a bad deal, but when it comes to Porsches, shops expect to get paid.

DIY is $30 in parts and 3 hours labor.

You have to be careful the belt for cars that were optioned with PDCC are different from the ones with out it. PDCC uses an extra pulley for the hydraulic pump for that system and that belt would be longer.

For sure. OP said he has PDCC, which is the belt I linked.

OK I'll bite.

What's going wrong with your PDCC?

Thanks in advance.

I use a small screwdriver on a few connectors that have broken over time.

Assuming an indy shop labor is $150-200, (not the $450 of a dealership), then for $650 that would mean over 3 hours of labor. I know the bumper and air filters and such have to be taken out, but that's the most intensive part. The belt is loosen, remove, and install. An experience Porsche mechanic shouldn't take more than a little over an hour to do this. I'm thinking that is probably "book time" x rate and overhead charge. Like other's have said, if you have time and some skill, DIY it. You can probably do it in three hours.

Like a couple others mentioned, push down on that spot with a flat head screwdriver. The "lever" is what's broken off. Also, once you push down, don't be gentle. You might have to pull pretty hard. The only thing to worry about breaking is the part that's already broken off...lol

Ha. I wasn’t getting any where with being gentle. Eventually got it off 👍🏽
