Default Largest tire on non-GT rear 991

I tried searching but couldn’t find the answer. Any non-GT cars have wider tires? 315’s,335’s? Let’s see em!!!!

I have been wondering this myself...I think there should be room for 315's however they will make the rear taller just a bit...325/335 would be nice but would have to step down to a 25 series tire to keep the diameter similar (plus not sure if they would clear without mods).

I’m surprised because the original tires are 305’s and it seems snug. You can go very wide on others cars like the corvette or even a Nissan 350z haha.

The older 993’s and 996’s had room.

What are the exact tire specs on your fronts? 265/? Michelin makes a 265/30, 265/35, 265/40.
I have seen a 991 with a 19 x 9.5 and a 265/35 front.

The main problem is you're a wide-body car, same as the GT3. There's no way a 20x12 et48 is going to fit on a narrow body car.
The max wheel width for the rear on a narrow body car would be 11.5" and et 76. BBS lists their FI as fitting the narrow body cars with an et62 and they rub. I believe there's a long thread regarding wheel offsets for narrow body cars.

I think the OP is looking for narrow body cars, which is what I'm looking for as well.

Ah OK... I guess when I saw non-GT car, I didn't consider the width in that since I don't consider it an actual GT car. So you're right, not apples to apples there.

I do believe 315/30 would work fine. You have to consider difference in speedo Readings and possible wear & tear to the trans and diff by going to a tire larger than a 315/30.

on a NB 991.1 rear, 11.5 +59 fits with no rubbing, on a NB 991.2 11.5 +67 fits with no rubbing.

I run
Front - 8.5 x 20 ET 49 - 245/35-20
Rear - 11.5 x 20 ET 76 - 305/30-20
315 would fit, for sure. I just havent found a 255 for the front and i'm shy to try a 265 on a 8.5" wheel.

Adam, with a +59 offset we can fit a 315 with no rubbing on a lowered 911? Any pictures of this setup?

I am running it with 305's currently, but prettty confident 315's would be fine, def with maybe a +62 ... heck my buddy runs 325 rear on his NB 997...

Those are 11.5 +67 rear wheels with 8mm spacers (+59)

-1.8 in rear at the moment which I believe is within OEM spec.

305's and 315's are quite different with some tire brands. I run 20x11.5 +54 and for some reason my drivers side rear wheel slightly touched a control arm on heavy use for a period of time. I am lowered on eibach springs, -2.5 camber. This is what i'm afraid of. If I ever run something larger than 305's, the geometry of the suspension will be off and i'll run into problems with rubbing not only with tire but with the wheel especially when road racing during high speed suspension travel.

On this 991.2 Carrera Cabriolet we ran 325's in the rear on the HRE P200's that were built to 12.5" wide.
