Default Curb rash on 3 week old car!

Hello, I curbed my right rear wheel entering a highway ramp at about 20 mph. I have wheel & tire warranty but I'm contemplating just leaving it as is as the damage is minor rather than having to remove the tire from the rim and possibly causing more damage. Also, is there a chance that this type of damage may require realignment of the wheels? Your opinions will be appreciated! Thanks!

You paid for the insurance, why not get it fixed? Removing tire from rim should not cause more damage and if it does, that can be fixed.

You will be happier getting it fixed, I mean the car is 3 weeks old.

No need for an alignment for something so minor.

Agree with above. This is one reason why people get the insurance. They will make it good as new. If me, then I wouldn't hesitate especially if I had the insurance. I couldn't look at that rash every day. But, another week of brake dust and you wont see it.

Another option is to get it dressed. They can do amazing work at hiding the damage just through a touch up. I've seen them do it on dealers lots for used cars using the mobile touch up service. But, yes I agree with using the insurance you paid for.

Use the insurance. If they cause more damage then they will have to fix that too.

Need for alignment? Did you just "kiss" the curb by driving an inch too far to the right? Or did you slide sideways and make contact?

Fix it. I made a bone head mistake in try to hug a curb while park. Chewed the crap out of the wheel. I understand how you feel, but have it fixed, you paid for it.

I'm all for leaving stuff but the warranty is for this exact thing. It can be repaired to look perfect. I'm a freak about balance and unmounting tires so I hear ya but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I " "kissed" the curb driving an inch too far to the right" making a crunchy noise. I did not slide sideways to the curb. Will it be okay?

Yes, should be fine. That's a scrape over impact.

I would try more of a cosmetic repair first. I have the same Platinum Satin color wheels and after 3 years finally curbed a front wheel, Probably about about a 1/3 of the length of your rash, done at 1 mph while pulling into a parking spot. The repair was done using my insurance. The paint match was meh- but unless you are really looking at the color difference you won't notice. Just one of those things, bumper scratches, door dings and paint chips going to happen. Even in the garage, my ten year old (at the time) dragged a sled across my black Jag's trunk. I sold the Jag and kept the kid.

If you have the insurance use it. Doesn't make any sense not to.

Ugh that looks awful. Get it repaired. That's why you bought the insurance.

Really? Yes, get it repaired with the wheel warranty you have. If yuh don’t have it, any wheel repair shop can easily fix that. Question is, color matching, but I’m sure they can do that too. This is an easy repair any way you dice it.
