Air conditioning
Hi,
I have a 991 Targa4 GTS 2016 with air conditioning problems!
A month ago I got a metallic scratching sound from AC.
The cooling/heating is working but the sound is irritating.
It is a problem with the heat exchanger according to Porsche and probably caused by "stone shot" and because of that not covered by the warranty.*
From my point of view it is a problem with the compressor and by that a warranty issue.
Any one with similar problems or suggestions what it can be?
Regards,
Ove

Did you inspect your radiators well? If a rock hit them you should see that for sure, such as this: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1198...ying-rock.html
Hi,
No nothing is visible from the front as far as I can se!
But if there is a small damage in the radiator can that cause the metallic sound inside the car?
The sound disappear when I turn of the AC.

Ove

Since the compressor is at the rear of the car and the condenser (radiator) is at the front of the car, it shouldn’t be very hard to figure out which theory applies. The sound is either coming from the front or the rear.
I suspect that your report of a ‘noise when compressor is on’ never made it to the technician that was tasked with working on your car. It is often the case that what you tell the service advisor doesn’t make it to the technician. The technician’s work order was probably “problem with A/C.”
