Default Outta CPO and finally get to take her apart

Just Outta warranty and I have been dying to take my 991 apart to check her out little bit better and modify her .
All service was done at NYC Porsche and RI Porsche from Brand NEW!!..
I took the rear bumper off to do the air filters finally myself and clean the throttle body detal it . .. and was just like OMG how nasty it was ..

30K miles looks more like 100K miles of ew....

A little chemicals and elbow grease looks like a new car again...
I was convinced they never did any maintenance the past yrs but the old filters were new Porsche brand.
She is glad to be outta warranty now ...

Good for you! It is nice to see ambition and interest. These are well made cars and they beg to be explored, maintained and modified. We are not all mechanics, but it is nice to see everyone here trying to get involved and take a stab. A big shout out to you and everyone else here who posts their experiences and offer of help. Cheers!

It's nice to have a project car, warranty or not. If you don't need to use it in the morning, that makes it so relaxing to explore.

that looks nice and clean. good job.

(one thing that bugged me about the 991; the steps you have to take to get a good look at the engine)

Good job! By the way, there's no reason why you can't do your own maintenance during your warranty period!

Yeah its like getting a new cell phone.. Once you figure out where everything is .... it is pretty simple/ fast job to remove the rear bumper and wing.. all tiny little screws w/ torx bits.

Great job.
I have no doubt that you did a far better job than the certified technician who is on a strict time clock and gets penalized when he runs over his allotted time.

WOW that's filthy.

Do you live in a dusty area?

I have over 100K on mine and the engine stays pretty glean.

Do you daily drive it? If so, makes sense as I know on my daily drivers the salt gets everywhere. If that is just from routine weekend driving in non-inclement weather then that's a lot of dirt. Looks great now.

Not a daily driver.. it was mostly nasty winter salt liquid mixture they use now.. would have rotted the engine lines and wires out if i didn't do this
It did have to go to the dealer few yrs ago for vacuum sensors that were corroded I didn't think much about it at the time.. but now that i see it .. yeah totally..

Wow, that's a nice before/after result. Great job on cleaning it up, bet you added to the car's life by washing all that salt / dirt away.

Default Nice job!

I'm planning to remove my rear bumper to replace engine air filters soon and depending on how dirty it is I might need a little bit of cleaning too. What cleaning products did you use? Looks great!

I always use Awesome degreaser with toothbrushes and soaked rags..
PB max to coat all the metal parts and makes all the aluminum shine like brand new again..
then just basic Amoral Plastic Protectant on all the clips , tubes and plastics bitz.. diode electrical grease all the electrical harness clips too .
