Capitalism is what we have and allegedly, folks who drive expensive cars like RLers have made it in this world. Businesses exist to maximize profits and money is what makes the world go around. I get it. Then there are those who rip people off and even worse, those who enjoy getting ripped off without actually knowing that they are getting ripped off. Okay, rant over.![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Seriously y'all....routine maintenance on a Porsche, 991 more specifically, is really no more difficult than on say, a Toyota. To think that a Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, or any other high end cars are untouchable by your average Joe is foolish. Never forget, anything that a human being creates can be hacked by another. Unless you are a complete moron, you'd be hard pressed to break anything in the process. Oil change, brake flush, cabin filter, and even engine air filter replacement are some the most basic DIY jobs. The biggest hurdle would be not having a garage and/or the initial purchase of required tools. If you are one of those people who don't enjoy working on cars, I can respect that. Just don't complain when the stealership takes you for a ride. Like any "purchase", you should shop around.

Dropped in at Livermore Porsche after I bought my 2000 C4 Cab just to look around and to see if I wanted to do business there. NO ONE said a word to me. No hello or can I help you? Just ignored. This actually happened twice. The 1st time when I was just looking around and the 2nd time when I wanted to get some parts info. Decided then and there to NEVER take my car there.
Had the exact opposite experience at Walnut Creek Porsche.
Drove there once to just look around and the receptionist greeted me plesantly and with can I help you. Received the same greeeting on subsequent occasions and even got offers of coffee while I waited for the parts person to come out and help me. The parts people have also been very nice and helpful and actually do call you when parts come in. The service reps I've dealt with (1 mainly) are very accomodating and know what's going on w/your car, keep you updated on the progress of the work and have a set up w/Uber & Lyft to give you a ride to/from the shop for free. They even offered to give me a ride to/from my house which is located about 30 miles away while work was being done, which was done to my satisfaction and any issues fixed w/o delay or complaint. It really doesn't get much better than this at a dealership.
The cost of getting things done at the dealer are of course not cheap but, based on the service I've received at Walnut Creek Porsche, I wouldn't hesitate to take my 996 back to them again if need be.
