Default BMC Air Filters

Hello...anyone have anything to say about the BMC air filters(good,bad,pros,cons)...while I have my recall/service bulletin, whatever you want to call it for my 13 C4S for the heat Shield et al..figured do the filters while they are in there...ordered the BMC filters from Suncoast...get an e mail bout an hour later...that they are on back order-would've been nice to know as I was ordering....now that they on back order, wondering if they are worth it or not...any input on these would be appreciated...Thank you.

I have them in my .2 GTS. Had them installed when the Soul cats and tune were being done so cant really give a stand alone review. I can tell you that at WOT there's a pretty loud and pronounced suction sound, hard to explain but almost jet like. Other than that I can't say much else. From what I've read before buying them there's not much benefit so I wouldn't lose sleep over not getting them.

I installed the filters a month ago - butt dyno feels like the car has a little better throttle response. I think the fact that the old filters in my case were filthy doesn’t help. I’m willing to bet the difference from stock to BMC is minimal (maybe 2hp...)

I just had one installed and car does feel better, oem filter wasn't dirty at all. The sound is very aggressive when you get on it.

I've used K&N (similar to BMC) filters on many of my cars, although not my 991.2. Improves intake sound somewhat and increased power by maybe 4-5hp - If your butt dyno is really dialed in you might feel it. I'd probably install it if it was a quick fix. To me it's deal breaker if I have to take the bumper off. Just not worth it for that alone. Your dealer may or may not install after market air filter. Be sure to ask first. Pass on your impressions if you have it installed.

It being the dealer and all, it should just be done for free. It really isnt that much harder to open up the intake box and replace filters. It's very easy once the bumper is off.

Also, I didn't feel any difference from OEM. My filters were clean and fairly new. Sound didn't change much either. If I hadn't installed it myself, I wouldn't believe they were in there. Just my $0.02.

I’ve used many air filters and non of them come close to the quality of BMC.

I love BMC!!!

I swapped from OEM to BMC...Meh... If I were to do it again, I would have just saved my money and used OEM ones. But i guess the BMC ones are reuseable.

Same initial impression with K&N, I won't bother with non-OEM filters anymore...

K & N filters do not enjoy a good reputation from many folks in the motorcycle community. The comments being made are that they don't filter as well as paper or foam filters. Also, comments have been that they do not flow as well as filters made from other media, such as oiled foam.

I have no way to test the efficiency of air flow through a oiled-gauze filer, such as K&N, but I have held several up to the sky on a sunny day and you can easily see daylight through thousands of holes in the filter media. My guess is that these holes pass larger contaminant particles that would otherwise be trapped by OEM filters.

BMC produces filters for F1, WRC, and many other racing sanctioned bodies. It’s the real deal!!!
