981 to 991.1 - I did not enjoy the 992 or 718 - thoughts?

I had a blast with my 718 Boxster S
I picked the 718S over a 2015 GTS after test driving both of them, that's how good it was
With a few parts and a tune she was estimated to have 405 to 410 rear wheel hp.
I now have a 991.2 CS Cabriolet and can tell you both cars are completely different

Came from (and still have) an E46 M3. Test drove the 981 GTS, 997.2 TT and 718 CS. Bought a new 718S. Loved it.
Just traded it in for a 2017 Base 991.2. Loved the Cayman, but I learned some stuff about myself in it: I'm a comfort cruise type of guy. Don't care for tracks or super spirited driving. Yeah, I'll occasionally ring my M3 to 8150, but that's about it. The 991.2 really fits me, especailly with the full leather interior.

On the track I didn’t notice any lag at all in either a manual T or a pdk gts. It’s always on boil and the turbo is spinning hard when doing track work. I was super impressed with both flavors of the engine, even compared to my old school na 993. Probably lag is more apparent on the street?

Congrats on the 911! I have a similar path.

I had an issue with seating position when driving for a long time too because of health issues. Now I'm good in the 911 with all the extra room
Just trying to mod her a little as the Boxster was. The 991.2 is really a great car

Oversimplifying, but I feel there's a huge amount of influence by what you're accustomed to whenever you test drive any car. If you step out of a naturally aspirated 911 and into a turbocharged one, the difference in feel will be overobvious in a way similar to how two wines are if you taste one right after the other without rinsing.
I figure most of us will get used to the feel of the turbo engines within a month or so, then they'll just feel normal.
The sound difference on the Caymans might take a little longer though.

i had my 981 base for 5 years till about a month ago. In 2018 I picked up a 991.1 gt3, which is too harsh for the street and very boring except when u are doing track speeds. Sold it and went to a 991.1 s cab and felt like a downgrade into a GT car vs the 981 lol. Dont get me wrong, that's exactly what i am looking for. No desire to get into the turbos yet, i plan to scream and wail in my slow, naturally aspirated engines for a while. But yeah, 981 is a great bargain and just as enjoyable to own
