Default Initial Impressions + Install Feedback : Soul Performance Sport Cats for PSE

I worked with Paul from Soul directly. Great communicator and overall the product is awesome. They quoted about s 10 day lead time and the cats were delivered shortly after. Fitment was very good. Can't wait for their headers to come out!

*I specifically requested a "raw" look to these - they generally come with a silver coating and SOUL lettering them. I prefer the "stock" raw look personally.

I made a quick video this morning, a day after the sport cats were installed during a drive

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnMqUTXWYx8

Here is a rev up demonstration video I just took.

Took me a little over 4 hours but I decided to pull the rear bumper cover off just in case. I was working on a lift and had a friend helping out. First time installation for both of us. I do NOT think the bumper removal aided in the process which puts this installation at about 3.5 hours total. If you have a shop wanting to charge you 3 hours of work, I would say that is very fair. I have seen people say 1-3 hours - I would be surprised to see anyone do it twice as fast as it took us, but I suppose its possible. I did remove the passenger side wheel to access one of the heat shield screws and longer racket to get leverage for the 02 sensor. In theory the installation is straight forward - you can pretty much see what needs to be done as soon as you start looking around. Accessing 1-2 heat shield screws on each side are a challenge! Then reinstalling them even more of a challenge as you have to get things lined up properly and not allow the hex screw to fall! Fussing with the heat shield screws is literally about an hour of work total - for 8 screws...its so frustrating. If you DIY be ready to have all sorts of various extensions, rachet sizes. etc. What works for one screw, may not work for the next so you need to get creative. Many times I asked myself - why did they do this? 02 sensors were not bad, once loosened they spin right out. Removing the original cats from the slip joints and installing the new ones takes some time to properly align it. Rubber mallet was my best friend. Took a few times to get the muffler centered right so everything slipped on properly. Then we tightened up all the clamps once the cats were secured to the turbos. All in all, installation was as advertised. Thanks to my friend Jeff for helping out!

Thank you for sharing. How is the throttle response? Did you notice any difference with these? I have the same car as you, but a manual. Also, where in NNJ are you? I’m in Pompton Lakes. Would love to meet up and hear the car.

Very nice look! Now you definitely need to get headers, low restriction intake and a tune.

In for a penny, in for a pound.

Enjoy the ride.

Thanks so much for the post and all the installation details. Really helps in convincing me to tackle this job myself. Can I assume when you removed the O2 sensors you just "wound up" the wires and did not go to the trouble of disconnecting all 4 of them further up? I am worried that may damage the sensors if there is not enough rope.

Yes you can definitely DIY, just make sure you have someone strong handy to help remove and refit the muffler into position. Rest is a 1 man job.

We did not disconnect them once the o2 sensors were threaded out. just tucked them away during installation. There is enough slack on the sensors to reach the new cats, no issues there.
