Is this common?

Hey guys,
The doors, more so the passenger side, on my new to me 2017 991.2 CS sound like old car doors. Remind me of my grandpa getting up off the couch, lots of gripes and groans. Anyway, I have to say I’m surprised. The car has 11K miles and no reason, like being in an accident, that the door(s) should sound so bad. It’s a CPO, think my dealer will assist? Thanks!

Is it like a creaking sound? Is that side facing the sun? Mine does that when the panels expand and touch as they pass each other when you open the door.

Get some lithium grease and lube'em up. I do agree though that the sound of the door closing is not anything special.

But yes, creaking sound. Very annoying. Haven’t heard a car door sound like that in decades.

Some sort of lube like Bob says but only when you fine the exact spot. I have another car where the rubber weather strip creaked on the sill. Good luck.

Oh, so it does it when cold? Hold a piece of paper between where things move past each other to check for clearance.. Wing to door is where i get it, ceramic coating makes the surface so hard that it makes it worse.

Yeah, I’ll see if I can pinpoint it and lube. Thanks!

mine do it too and it's slightly frustrating. i've asked both my independent and the dealer to lubricate the hinge and both did and neither addressed the sound.

This type of discussion happens amongst new Cayenne owners. The older doors "feel" more solid. They are certainly heavier. They are not aluminum. Aluminum is lighter and stiffer so we get those benefits but the old bank vault feeling like an older Mercedes is absent. That special feeling was traded for lighter, stiffer, aluminum.

Looks like B.Kish beat me to it, since I posted this on the wrong thread last night (why does this forum jump around to different - sometimes unrelated - pages?). Anyway, here's my copy/paste:
Sounds like the door guide. I've never heard a creaky one, but apparently Porsche released an updated part for the 991 because the original part got creaky after while.

And it fixed the problem. Im sure the porsche gods will now need to sacrifice a virgin or something. It was not the hinges but the control arms squeaking.
