Default Passenger Side A/C blowing cool, but not cold

All My 991.1 has ice cold a/c on driver side but the passenger side is much warmer. I have the temps set the same on both sides and have run the temps up and down as well as used the SYNC mode.

Seem like a changeover valve. Any ideas before I call the dealer to get it looked at?

Thanks!

Sounds like you are low on freon, maybe a leak in one of the condensers up front, they get hit by rocks easy.

bingo. I hade the same exact problem and it was a condenser. Eventually both sides stopped cooling.

Thanks. I called the dealer and they said it could be low on freon. I've had two recharges in the last three years. They said it wasn't a leak. CPO just expired in March. Hope it's not a condenser.

I not sure how a "sealed" system can be low on freon (twice in 3 years) and not have a tiny leak?
Anyone care to enlighten an ignoramus?
TIA

I had the exact same situation with my '18 GTS. Yes, you've lost refrigerant. Long story short: the car went back to dealer three times to find a leak. And the culprit was...a faulty Schrader valve where refrigerant is introduced into the system!!

Did you experience a hissing sound?

No. Very slow leak. It took a couple of months to be noticeable after 1st and 2nd visits to dealer. The valve is on the passengers side between front wheel and door. Apparently, as refrigerant leaks out things close down in a sequence. Passenger side cooling is one of the first things to go out.

No longer freon these days, the word is "R134a"

Be an idea to get a recharge kit and DIY. I used to have to recharge my BMW E46 every 6-8 months with a can. Overall capacity was around 2 lb, a recharge kit was about a lb. Symptoms I would usually get were differential cooling, left vs. right. Plus an odd "gargling" sound which apparently was the air in the system cavitating under pressure.

Of course that's just a temporary measure, and that will not ensure the "correct" amount, or suck and refill, like they will do at a dealer. But at $20 it's worth considering if you are away from the dealer.

It's a pretty straightforward process.

Typical DIY here, but there are lots of them:

That's funny that you said that because my 88 911 had the same issue just a few months back.

I have gotten hissing sound near the Sport Chrono clock on the center of the dash. I know it has a leak somewhere but the dealer couldn't find it and just topped it off for me for free.

It only failed once on me and that was three hours from home in the Alabama summer. It was a nice drive home.

I just bought one of these at Autozone. Got a $20 gift card with a $60 kit. I plan on using on my BMW E91, but it's just as straight forward on a 991.

If you have a friend in the A/C trade he probably has a sniffer you could try.
