Default Foam Cannon & Exterior Wash

Exterior wash

I’ve spent many hours reading, evaluating and experimenting on the best way for me to wash my car.

I am a big fan of the foam cannon, I chose the SurfaceMaxx 3700 that is well suited to my Yamaha 3100psi powerwasher. Using Garage Guys Honeydew Snow foam wash.

Dried the car using a Stihl BG75 blower.

I am happy that the process is nearly touch less.

I also found the Norwex Window Cloth which you only use water to wet the glass before drying with the cloth and it does not streak!

The wheels and interior are

another story. Besides having the right tools and cleaners, mostly from Porsche (I know they’re ridiculously priced), I am a fan of carnauba wax. It has the best protection and lasts a decent period, especially when the car is garage kept.

Thanks for reading my post and happy to receive any comments.

Great process - car looks great. I always say to do the process that works for you and also the process that you enjoy most. Washing these car should be a fun process, not a chore.

How long would you say the carnuba lasts? How long does it take to apply?

In my experience it depends how the car is driven and stored. If stored in a garage and driven on weekends in nice weather, you could expect 6 months + out of it. If you are driving it daily and it sits outside, I would expect a month or two. Always has taken me 30 mins to an hour to apply and then remove after that which takes 15 mins. If you enjoy the time out in your garage, I actually prefer a carnauba over something like a ceramic coating.

I agree on the foam cannon...great way to wash the car which I only discovered about a year ago. Leaf blower is also great for drying most of the car then I finish off with a towel.

I find the results on my car are a lot better if I use a sponge to lightly scrub a little bit some of the foam so not completely touchless for me.

Very similar to my process. I have a 1600 PSI electric pressure washed. I rinse the 911 first with the power washer then foam with Adams Mega Foam using my TriNova foam cannon. I follow with a light touch two bucket wash and then rinse with the power washer, then “sheet” rinse the car and then blow dry with my Master Blaster. Last step is always a dusting of Beadmaker and a soft wipe using a Soft Rag Company microfiber towel.

Try the Harbor Freight $ 39.99 electric blower. Light weight and no gas smell . . .

Recently, we moved to a new house and I know have my own 2 car garage for my 911. So I bought an MATCC Foam Canon and a. electric SunJoe 3000 with just over 2000 psi.
They work great.
I'm still trying to get my water softener to work, but bought a 120V Worx yard blower to get the water drops off my Black 911 b4 it gets water spots. Blowing it dry is a horse race against water spotting. Need to get my water softener working

I’m getting too lazy to set up my foam cannon.

These days, I do a rinseless wash with Wolfgang Uber Rinseless Wash and dry with AMMO Hydrate.

Clean as a whistle in 20 minutes. Just as clean as if I was using a foam cannon (which I’m starting to suspect is more theatrics than beneficial — maybe some presoaking properties to help lift dirt but I can get that with a presoak with spraying the rinseless wash mixture.

If it’s extra dirty, I’ll rinse it off with water and use AMMO Frothe as a pre-treatment.

The one thing that I think many folks don’t take advantage of is the benefit of a good power washing can have on removing crud. It can remove so much crud and it is often rushed as if it was race to get to the end or to the foam stage. A good pre wash rinse starts it off right especially if you plan on lots of contact washing. Assuming you want to keep the pain or ceramic coating looking great.

Another vote for electric over 2 cycle blowers. I have a Stihl (all of my 2 cycle stuff is Stihl), but use a Worx on the car.

I've been using the Stihl for years as well as the Kirkland microfibre cloths. I use 2 - 3 yellow cloths for each wash and I throw them out and don't reuse them.

Master Blaster while expensive is great for drying everything safely.

If people are looking for a blower, the Ego blowers are quite good from what I hear. Years ago I had a Master Blaster 4hp. Either will be picking up an Ego blower or Master Blaster 8hp in the future.
