Default Zen and the art of Porsche ownership/Driving

I’ve owned many many vehicles (enthusiasts cars) and this base 991.1 is the first time I’ve felt Zen while driving, loving each and every drive. Have put on 3k miles in the few months I’ve had it (just joy rides) not my daily. Happy, maybe someday I’ll move up to a 991.2 T but for now very satisfied. Anyone else feel this way

Oh Yeah! It started when I moved from an M3 to a 997. Now in a 991.2 GTS and the feeling is sublime in many ways. Especially once you get it on the track ...which we will do again someday after the quarantine is past

Hi Mark,
Welcome to the Zen of PORSCHE and 911.
Having also owned many sports and performance cars for over 50 years, I can agree that the 911 is as close to Zen on 4 wheels as you can get.
I recently sold my base 991.1 for a 911T, you will not be disappointed

I agree about the 991, but I had spiritual moments in lots of my past cars (124 Spider, 2002, X1/9, 914, 944, 964, and Boxster).

I hope I don't get stopped tomorrow when I go for a Zen experience, but if I do I plan to tell them I am on way to the grocery store; however, when he asks me why I passed 23 I have yet to think of how I will answer.

I agree the 911 is very special. I have owned many amazing sports cars but the 911 really is a great all around sports car which is difficult to compete with.

that’s funny as I almost was going to say it’s the first time I’ve felt Zen with a car since my first car a 124 Spyder

Completely agree! My 991 is ZEN. And 99% if the time I'm driving the top is down and I have a Davidoff(My favorite driving cigars). My 987 is more engaging and race car like the ZEN is a perfect description of the 991!

Every drive is a special occassion. The right tunes, sunroof back, good weather and I am in another world. No doubt it is my zen.

Just came back from couple hours of driving, stopping at a couple stores and take-out of course for dinner. The top was down all the time, upper 70s with a light breeze and hardly a car to be seen along the beach anywhere...it would nice if it were like this more often, without the virus of course.
