S+ On The Street?

I swear my 991.1 is louder (pse) with S+ on as well. So you're saying I'm imagining it? I do have the AWE switchpath tho...

In my Mercedes, if you drove at 3/4 throttle for a few seconds it would upshift until you floored it again. S is a little too tame and S+ almost unusable except, I imagine, in an all out track setting. I guess that is the advantage of a manual.
In auto mode it will be every shift change to 7k rpm. Not the most comfortable or economical form of driving sport+.

If you have a 991.1 with sport exhaust, I think you're imagining things. Mine sounds exactly the same on my 991.1. The sport exhaust is on for both. That's it. 2 levels - on or off. The throttle mapping changes when I hit Sport, but it does not change again when I go to Sport+. Sounds the same and revs the same.
The changes that sport plus invokes are all things that can't be felt in a street application: the car runs cooler, the traction control allows more slip before kicking in. It'll go to redline before shifting in auto, but I'm always in manual mode whether normal, S, or S+, so I never see that.
991.2 may be different, but I don't think so. I've heard rumor that 991.2's S+ in Auto mode does NOT rev to redline. Is that true?

I have a 2012 991 cab S and as others have said sport plus is not usable in auto mode on the street. My 2017 Targa 4s works beautifully in auto mode and it is the only mode where rear axle steering is active.

So far, my preference is S+ manual mode using the shift lever not the paddles. And S in auto. It sounds like the mapping of the PDK changed slightly for the 991.2 that makes S+ more useful. I may look in to the Cobb tune as another poster here said they liked it.

For those with 991.2's did you happen to notice that there seems to be an anti-lag of sorts going on in S+. The car is holding 1-2psi of boost even when you are completely off throttle. Also noticing a little better response. I'm sure there's tech data about this somewhere.

I dunno. I think you're imagining it. I don't think there's an "even louder" feature to PSE. But I have no idea what's going on once you add aftermarket products. Maybe you're noticing the lack of pops, as mentioned earlier?

EDIT: Assuming you have a 991.1. I have no experience with the .2s.

I haven't driven it enough in S+ to notice a lack of pops. It really could just be the higher rpm's that I'm hearing cause it is an absolute beast in S+. Too much for street driving. Haven't used it in manual yet. That's next!

As mentioned, I have a 991.1 with a dealer-installed, OEM PSE.

I find the PDK never shifts where I want so I always drive in manual mode.
I also, immediately put the car in S+ when I start her up. I much prefer all the characteristics of this mode, especially the active motor mounts begin stiffer.
