Default Smoker's Package Insert Question...

Hey folks...for those of you in the know. Is it safe to assume that if I order this (Suncoast) it's going to arrive with the insert that has the opening for the Lighter?

Has anyone ever seen or know of an insert that would just be for coins and stuff?

I want the cover, but don't want or need the Lighter feature. Maybe I could use my factory insert inside the Smoker's Package Cover? Wishful thinking perhaps.

I installed the "smokers package" in my 991.2. I bought if from my Porsche dealer and it came with lighter, light and wiring harness. I suspect the Suncoast item is the same but don't know for sure if the wiring harness is included.

You cannot simply add the "lid" to your existing cavity. The existing cavity must be removed and the ashtray complete with lid, lighter and light and wiring harness are installed in its place. It's a pretty big job, but not insurmountable. If you do a search on this forum you can see some photographs and how-to instructions on how to install the smokers package.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Bob...interesting that guy didn't secure the module so as not to interfere with the shift linkages. Good to see access to that area is quite easy!

Don't let the video fool you into thinking it's just a five-minute job. It's way more involved than what that video indicates. For instance, the back seat must be removed. But indeed it is a good project for a rainy day.

Yeah, not sure what he's referring too...I'm just swapping in the unit with the cover and not even going to wire the lighter part - don't need it or want it.

When I replaced/installed a smokers package on my coupe I removed the back seat cushion for access to remove the center console. The wiring harness not only connects to the ash tray, it also terminates to the 12 VDC power outlet in the console.

Can the smokers package be used to replace the tray and just not wire it for lighter? Easier job maybe...a tutorial somewhere?
could maybe have musicar (nick) make a tray insert.
thanks!

Sure, why not? That way you have just the box with a lid...nothing wrong with that!

Mine just arrived from Suncoast. The $99 version for the 991.2 includes the cable harness to wire the lighter. I'll snap some pictures of all angles. It looks to me like it would need some major modification to drop in an insert, i.e., dremmel tool.

I replaced the coin holder with a smokers package January 2018 on my 991.1 because I didn’t like the hole in the center console. Here is a diagram I put together when I installed the smokers package. If you have questions just reach out to me.

BTW: Part # 1 which is the side frames and center railing stays intact and there is no need to remove it.
