Default 991.2 headlight popped out

Bad weekend for me and my 2017 Carrera. Bought it COP with

8000mi and I just got it in Dec. I have just got it out of storage and have driven less than 100 miles. Love the car but, this weekend the water pump started to leak and my passenger headlight popped out. The dealer is closed until the 8th and maybe later so cant take it in and can't drive it. Disappointed since after 20 years of Ferrari unreliability, I thought I would go with a more reliable car and then this within 100 miles. Hope it is not a bad omen because really love the car.

I would pull the headlight out as far as you can and check the headlight housing for any sort of damage. If there is no noticeable damage it should go back into place and lock as it is designed to do.

The 991.2 headlight does not lock in. It is held in by a bolt. This means that somebody removed it for some reason and did not tighten the bolt when it went back. Does the car have clear bra? That would probably be the culprit.

No clear bra. Bumper needs to removed to get to the bolt,?

Yes, the bumper comes off real easy (about 15 min). There should be some threads on here and YouTube videos on how to do it.

Here's a quick 991.2 GT3 video, exact same process as when I removed my bumper.

For sure the 2019 headlights are held in place with 2 bolts/nuts. And these are tightened with the bumper off. Previous to this, there was a headlight tool in your tool kit in thr frink that had a headlight tool that basically cammed an arm the would grab or release a part of the headlight housing.

Here's the bolts under the headlight that lock it in place. The bumper has to be at least partially removed to access these.

If there was ever a good use for duct tape this is it, until you can get to the dealer of course.

yeah, dont want to hit the brakes and have the light unit go flying out and break. These are quite expensive.

You can tilt the headlight upward in the front a bit and push it rearward. This will engage the male posts on the rear of the headlight into the female portion of the car. It might have a gap at the from bottom of the light but at least it will be well seated. This headlight is going no where since the wiring is connected assuming that the light is wired up currently.

Makes you wonder why this headlight was removed in the first place. Was there front body work performed?

No I don't think there ever was body work done. The headlight was fine a few weeks ago. I happen to have taken pictures of the front end and the headlight looked normal. Just noticed it yesterday when I was washing the car. Maybe never secured properly from factory?

Did you remove any wiring or the hose to the headlight washers to pull the bumper out that amount?
