Second 991.2 Carrera 7MT, this one a 2018 at 24,000 miles and counting. It's been fantastic, and the only issue so far has been a failed plastic water line between the body and hood for the windshield washers. Replaced under warranty.

The service advisor at Porsche Marin says the 991.2 cars have been largely trouble free, though he's seen this water line breaks on a number of 991.2s that see a lot of miles and trunk use. Fortunately, the fix is quick and easy.

My experience with 991.1 w/X50 Powerkit
7MT
2014 50th Anniversary Edition
75K total miles
All scheduled maintenance performed

CPO Repairs
24K miles - Replaced changeover valve due to no heat
30K miles - Both PADM dampers replaced, cooling system changeover valve replaced
44K miles - High pressure fuel pump replaced
49K miles - Changeover valve replaced due to no heat
54K miles - Rear spoiler drive motor replaced, replaced leaking manual clutch line that comes off of brake fluid reservoir
64K miles - Heat shield service campaign, fuel tank module campaign, battery replaced

After CPO Expired
69K miles - Replaced front a/c condenser due to stone damage/leak

I average 30-31 mpg on the highway in normal mode in 7th gear (manual transmission). Incredible vehicle in all respects. Still turns heads and gets comments from folks almost every drive.

+1 on this.

2017 C2S @ 45k miles

$50 for a pair of gas struts on amazon. Appears to be OEM supplier (Stabilus) to Porsche.

Link below for those of you also out of warranty:

I have a 2016 991 C4S 7MT which just hit 62k miles, ushered in with the Reduced Power and Engine Fault messages. I was able to limp across town to the dealer never reaching above 3500rpm. The dealer has not been able to replicate either of these error messages, but says they indicate failure of the high pressure fuel pump. Does anyone here know if this is a) the correct diagnosis , or b) an expected replacement at 62k miles? Head mechanic quoted me $2,900 plus labor to replace. I am hesitant to make a $3k repair for an error message they cannot replicate. Any help here from people more knowledgeable than me on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Zach

2013 991.1 C2S with PDCC 7MT

Bought CPO with 20k miles now at 90k miles (commuting, canyon runs and multiple track days)

Issues:
COV failure for no heat and car overheating (CPO replacement)
Failed Clock Spring (CPO replacement)
Engine lid struts (first set CPO 2nd set Amazon for $50)
Broken wires for 3rd brake light 2 times (retrofitted Duck, so no longer will be an issue)
Sticky Throttle Body @ 89k miles (could have cleaned it, but new Bosche units are $150 and 2-3 hour easy DIY)
3 total sets of pads and rotors

All maintenance done on time, except for oil changes which I do every 3-5k miles versus 10k miles as per Porsche (FCP euro so I only pay $28 for shipping my used oil LOL )

The only <$1000 maintenance items was the PDCC service, as I do my own oil changes, plugs, etc.

I have spare PADM units, but mine have yet to fail (knock on wood)

Given the number of miles, track days and hard canyon runs I am surprised how reliable this car has been over my previous Audi's and BMW.

First time I have had a car over 4 years and didn't sell it and don't want to sell it.

same, but under CPO. Could only apply throttle very lightly to get home. Then had it towed to dealer.

Default 2015 991 C2

Internal fan stopped working. 61,000mi. No air blowing for A/C, Heat or windshield defrost. Checked fuse but it looks good. Shop found faulty Blower Motor Regulator. Fan was ok.

Here's my history on both 991s. Both were bought new. Excluded tires but did include minor issues.

2015 (991.1) 911 Carrera 4 GTS - 7 speed manual
  • Typical problem that some/many 991.1 and 991.2 owners have experienced.
  • Initial issue noticed at 2020-05 at ~3000 miles, five years after vehicle production.
  • A coolant leak between the plastic coolant pipe and the thermostat housing.
  • Likely caused by a bad design in the groove in the plastic coolant pipe which is wider than it needs to be, allowing the rectangular section O-ring to squish/spread over time.
  • A simple fix; a new O-ring. A redesigned plastic coolant pipe with additional gussets is available that I did not use but the O-ring groove is just as wide.
  • And it looks like my engine lift struts may be on their way out.
