No - they stared that most likely from a rock hit, but I doubt that as the other one had a small start of a crack as well. Well - they have been fixed now with great work by https://rennlights.com/. Check out my post here: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1255...l#post20325263

Default 991.1 Headlight fell out!

I have a 2016 Carrera GTS. I bought it 2 years ago with 15K miles. It is a really great car, I love it. It now has 20k miles. I've had only one problem, and that was a broken spoiler lifter. This is apparently a common 991.1 problem, but my genius mechanic, Adam Gill, fixed it.
The point of this post is that yesterday, as I pulled into my driveway, the proximal object warning went crazy, and when I got out, the driver's headlight was hanging out by the wire connector. WTF? I put it back in using the headlight tool, and looks fine, but it won't give a final click to completely seat it. It will definitely come out again.
So, I tried to take the passenger light out to see when a functioning headlight looks like, and for the life of me, I couldn't get the tool to latch onto a nut.
I know I'm not a great mechanic, but this seems weird.
Anyone know anything about this?
This is the culprit

I also have a 991.1 GTS and have had both lights pulled out trying to diagnose an issue. (eventually resolved, different topic) Just to double check, you know the one side the bolt turns in the opposite direction? It's a good instinct to want to see the other for comparison, it shouldn't be hard to get it out. The first time you "release" one can be a bit unnerving, but once you hold it and understand how it is "grabbing" and locking then it will give you the confidence to remove/install them easily.

Can you imagine how pissed I was when the dealer did some work on the headlamp and they didn't re-install it correctly? I touched it and it popped out. They didn't secure it properly. I mean, why pay the Porsche tax for indie junior shop errors?

Thanks for your reply. Took it to San Diego Porsche. The tech fixed it right up (they send a video via message). He said it wasn’t installed correctly. All is good

I didn't have the issue, but I went ahead and did the hack to reduce the chance of it actually happening. My car is a 2016 though and has an extra (plastic) piece which rotates to secure it. Metal is better, probably reduces the chance of an issue from 5% to 1%. If yours looks like the older 991.1 latch without the extra secure tab, it's probably a better time investment. There's a thread with more discussion here: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1501...ket-fix-2.html

I do not think so. This is for owners that have the engine deck lid cable coming loose in the lock mechanism.

I just clicked on the link to verify.

My last pic shows a S/S tab with a piece of black rubber heat shrink covering the tab that is held down with a bolt and wing-nut and a removeable clip. Loosen the wing-nut, pivot the tab and the engine release cable and be removed.

I do not see the cable itself breaking. The one in my 1995 993 is still original.

I was just trying to help steer anyone with a 991 to the thread with the video, the discussion, and some examples of a different fix--maybe even an easier fix. Anyone who wants to address the issue, definitely read that thread in addition to the images posted by IXLR8 before you decide how to approach it.

Fellow 991.1 owners, has anyone experienced a persistent vibration on a 991.1 Carrera (3.4L) that didn't throw any fault codes?
No CEL, no codes at all, just a vibration that has been difficult to diagnose.
Current theory is that it's coming from the engine itself.
Curious if anyone has seen something similar and what the root cause turned out to be.

Thanks
