I don't think there is much recourse here. As-is where is with copart. My old friend in the salvage business called it putting a wig on a pig (fix up a car a bit and send it back to auction).

The math does not add up. Even if you had a parts car I don’t understand how you could even cosmetically go from condition A to B with 13k.

Maybe they slapped on a quarter panel. Transferred everything else from a parts car?

One thing for certain, is think long and hard before putting anymore money into that car if in fact they're the same unit as in the google pic. Even if you "rehab" that car at a large cost, it will always trade at a steep discount. Move slowly and wisely.

Yeah... You've got to use Autoauctions.io to see if these auction cars have been on the block before. This one definitely has some history.

Was this part of the representation in the selling information? Do you have screenshots of those statements? If so, I would believe you have a claim against the seller for misrepresentation, especially with the photos sourced by others of the same car.

Pick up the magazine Sports Car Digest (www.sportscardigest.com)--actual magazine, not the website--and you will find info on lawyers who specialize in auto transaction issues.

If you need repair shops, I can give you a few in the NYC/LI area...though they won't be cheap.

In the absolute worst case scenario if you ended up stuck with it, best thing to do would be to part it out. You could probably recoup most of your money.

Step 3. Share your experience.

I'm very sorry this happened to you. Everyone makes mistakes and sometimes regret is the worst feeling in the world. I hope you're able to recoup your money by claiming false advertising, as it sure appears that was the case here.

This is outright fraud. False advertising on every imaginable level.
Do not touch that car with a 10 foot pole. Do not take possession of it.
"Airbags did not deploy"?? Did not deploy into outer space??

Who's the culprit. Seller who consigned? The auction house?

Good luck in dealing with these types of people in an "amicable" manner.
These are your run-of-the-mill chop-shop folks who don't care even when it's at their doorstep.
Get a lawyer, or contact the office of the local state attorney.
Last option, as tacky as it may sound, contact their local TV "News" station for an exposé.
