Why don’t we lobby to have the forums split in the same way the water-cooled mid-engine model forums are split?

That would result in:
“997 and 991 Forum” but in reality only intended for Cabriolets
”GT3 Forum” that’s a sub-forum of the Cabriolet forum.
”911 Coupe Forum” but only for 997 and 991 Coupes
997 and 991 Targas left homeless

Makes sense right?

Ok I just tested this out and we have a good work around now... if we can ask the mods to do ONE thing it would make our lives much easier, this would be to display the tags in the thread listings. They are there, but you need to mouse over the little tag glyph to show them. If they were always displayed, users could quickly visually ignore non-relevant threads. I have been digging through the User CP section to see if "display tags" is a toggleable setting or not.

While creating a new thread there is a section for tags. Add whatever relevant tags for your thread

IE
Title: Check out my new exhaust
Tags: 991.1, exhaust, soul performance

When searching, enter your tag values in the search feature
IE
Search value: exhaust
Tags: 991.1

This will return all threads with title/body containing 'exhaust' that are tagged with 991.1

If going forward we are all diligent in tagging our new threads with either 991.1, 991.2 or 991 or 991.ALL than we can achieve what OP asked for without any changes needed from RL. Additionally, we can also retroactively start adding tags to existing threads regardless if you created them or not.

---------------------------------------------------------

Tags:

What are tags?

Tags are a useful way to search for threads with similar subject matter and content. This complements the normal search system, which searches only for certain words or phrases and/or posts by specific users.

To use tags, you add words or phrases to threads to help describe the content. For instance, if the subject matter is 'photography' then you can add the tag 'photography' to the tag list. But you could also add tags like 'digital image', and 'camera' (depending, of course, on the nature of the thread).

This will categorize this thread with all other threads that have matching tags, whether or not they have the word 'photography' in them.

Who adds the tags?

Tags are initially added to threads by the user who started the thread. Other users may also be able to add and remove tags.

How do I use tags?

Tags are displayed in a box near the bottom of a thread page. Clicking on a tag will allow you to view other threads that have the same tag - and which may be related. Clicking on the word 'Tags' in the top of the box will take you to an overview page with a 'tag cloud.'

This cloud allows you to see which tags are the most popular - the larger the word, the more times it has been used on threads within the board. There is also another tag cloud on the advanced search page that shows you the tags that have been searched for (or clicked on) the most.

In an effort to boost my post count (Bob? You? Talking about post counts?) I'd be curious just what the difference in Ethos and DNA you are referring to is? It's an engine, get over it.

I have been on this forum for almost 19 years so how many posts do you expect from someone that contributes & participates in this forum on a regular basis? Do the math and let's see if you can contribute in a post for a change.

I think the main forums should be divided by color and then sub-divided by interior deviated stitching.

If a 991.2 was created, you know all those .1’ers would come over and spend their whole retirement telling us how their NA is so much more superior.

My first P car was a '87 930 that I bought in 2000 and after that I had a new 2008 Boxster S...I have been around. And it was easy to determine which forum I needed to be in!

I equate them to the drivers who drive like absolute dicks and then dont make eye contact when they eventually get stuck at a red light.
Internet provides a safe zone for such characters.

It's the keyboard warrior in all of us.

The anonymity of the Internet brings the worst out of people.

I disagree! I’ve generally found people online to be incredibly helpful, Rennlisters are a great example.

I have found this Raylan Givens Justified quote to quite fitting for internet interactions.

“If you run into an a$$hole in the morning, you ran into an a$$hole. If you run into a$$holes all day, you're the a$$hole.”

Or the family friendly version:
