I think it is fine the way it is.

How far down the rabbit hole should we go? Separate sub-forums for PDK vs manual? AWD vs RWD? Base vs S vs GTS? Cabs vs coupes? Or PSP vs non-PSP equipped cars?

Or a sub-forum for Sapphire Blue cars. Okay, that last one, I could get on board with...

I would miss reading the 991.1 stuff and the people who post.

I don’t tend to wander from this forum often - occasionally to 992 forum to see if there is any news regarding a MT for the C2.

Rotors bigger on PCCBs on the .2 as well...

The list goes on and on...

I like seeing and learning about the 991.1s.

But this may be a good time to admit that I may have a bad case of SBE...

NA vs FI have so much in common!
How dare you propose a separate forum?
It makes way too much sense for this to happen.

It'll probably happen when California exits the Union because they have so much in common too haha.

Come on guys, the typical daily new posts for combined 991 models is about 30. How hard is it to skip threads you don't want to read?

I went through two other 991s before finally getting my dream Sapphire Blue one...

Having had both 991.1s and 991.2s, I enjoy reading about both of them

Turbos and GT3s have already been broken out from 991s.
3.0 tt 991.2s are just as much different from 991.1 3.8 NAs as Turbos and GT3s are from 991s. Ask me how I know - I've owned two Carrera S, a 991.1 and a 991.2 day 🌞 and night 🌛difference. This is not true about the differences between Turbos and GT3s, 991.1 and 991.2

I have to say that a separate "Turbo" related sub-category would be nice, as would a HPDE & Track, General Maint.......but I would fear that it would be too many categories. I say stick with common 991's and call it good. Now a nice fix would be to add a filter for 991.1 and 991.2 as the search is unable to handle this text. Maybe one could categorize the posts but 991.1, 991.2 or Both when a new thread is created.

Don't feel all that strongly, the more I think about it, but the current split makes sense, as each 991 model line/market is addressed:
  • Carrera
  • Turbo
  • GT3/GT2/R/Speedster

One could easily make the argument that transmission choice—7MT vs PDK—does more to change the driving experience of the Carrera than the 3.0-liter engine does, because the 3.0 was designed to mimic the normally-aspirated 3.4 or 3.8 and does a good job of doing so if you drive it similarly. There are other transformative options available for the 991, such as RAS or PDCC, but "Carrera" remains a good catchall. And I find it fun to read how others are using their cars or what they observe even if I don't use my car in the same way. Actually, that makes their experiences more interesting to me.

This is a dead issue everyone so unless you are trying to boost your post count don't waste the key strokes - one 991 Forum for all models 2012-2019. Over & out.
