Default Option XLT - Sport Tailpipes

Hello everyone, I would like to upgrade the oval tailpipes on my base 991.1 to quad round tailpipes as on the S models, but I don’t want to go to the expense of a PSE install, plus I am very happy with the current exhaust sound.

Is it possible to just have the tips changed? On some used models for sale I see this XLT option. Can this be fitted aftermarket and any links to sellers?

Thanks!

Sure can! Talk to John Gaydos over @Soul Performance and he'll help you out. He's a gentleman and a scholar; numerous members from the board have had phenomenal experiences with him and the rest of the team.

I have the quad tips without the Porsche Sport Exhaust.

I bought my 991.2 that way, but I think you can probably purchase the quad tips from Porsche or other sources and easily install them yourself. There's only a single clamp that you need toremove in order to take off the existing tip on each side. Then you use the same clamp for installing and securing the new quad tip.

sr5959,

I also have a base 2012 911 991.1 that I bought from Rusnak Porsche in Pasadena, Ca in September and I have all the other options to make the up grade to the car to PSE. I’m in the total opposite camp. I can’t stand the way my car sounds, it’s so whizzy and anemic! I’m saving my pennies to have factory PSE installed. I don’t believe it will devalue my car and the sound is so amazing! With a push of a button it’s quite again. Amazing! I can’t wait!

sr5959 spent the $5,000 plus and just rip that bandaid of that scab and be down with it!

I like the look of the dual tip except when you are looking right down the end and you can see that it is really just one pipe. Kind of faux dual, it's only thing keeping me from doing it, that and the crazy price. The oval tips are equally expensive. I believe the OEM run ~$350 each.

I've heard that the 997 quad exhaust tips will fit. Maybe look for some of those on eBay?

Thanks for all the replies, I don't mind spending $500 for some tips, but not $5k on a full PSE.

I might upgrade my base PDK to a manual S if I see a good deal so I don't want to spend that much.

Also I genuinely like the current exhaust note!

Your exhaust tips are bolt on not welded on, so they are replaceable. For fitment, I'm 90% sure our 997.2 Carrera tips will fit you car but I simply haven't had a 991.1 to test fit them on since they became available. If you'd like to give them a shot on your car, they'll come with a money back guarantee if for some reason they don't fit. We've got polished chrome, carbon fiber, and black chrome. Polished and carbon in stock at $495, the black chrome is a couple weeks out until they make it back from coating at $645. Give me a shout any time at 484 883 6197 to chat about it
