wheel hop.
So my C2 base PDK has a serious case of the wheel hops under acceleration. As soon as torque hits either just nailing it or launch control, it hops all the way through first gear and most of the way through second.
Its very annoying. Why?

Unusual. When did this start happening relative to the tune install? Can you uninstall the tune and drive around for 50 mile to see if this continues to happen? If yes, then leave tune off and get the car to a dealer.

i didnt realize it didnt have LSD. thats odd. now ive found that neither does the Carrera T with PDK.
on surfaces that are a little more slippery, tires spin, no hop. on grippier surfaces, no spin, no hop.

Base and I believe S cars required the PTV option for limited slip. It is a must have option in my mind that dealers routinely try to talk people out of.

Would lack of lsd cause hop? It did it when stock as well.
on edit: I’ve been reading the infonet and have found many instances where wheel hop is attributed to springs. In fact many (non Porsche) brands suggest lsd could add to hop without addressing springs. Could my H&Rs be contributing?

After getting my APR tune, I had lots of wheel hop on my base 991.2 with Techart springs. After lots of tire research, I replaced my worn Pzeros with PS4S and no more wheel hop. Since your PS4S don't sound like they are worn, it must be something else. It does make me wonder if the compound on all these tires gets hard after a few months, especially when the weather is cool.

Yea the rarely discussed lack of lsd on the base. I've had the hop and skip and jump and was shocked to find out my base lacked lsd. It was like 150 bucks on my truck but after reading numerous things I'm still not sure what exact code Porsche gives it. I've looked at aftermarket but it all gets weird with resale if you performed such an act. It really changes the way I drive the car however here is the revea part. I don't rememb it happening in my previous 991. my current 991.2 has so much more low end torque that it has to be the cause. If the curve or exit is done very well the effect is minimal and can be made fun. Its just more work than I care to make happen.Wished I'd held out for that c4 but I had no idea how different it was going to drive. The difference in ptv or c4 vs base will be the next big pec mission.I just keep telling myself slower out of corners is better. The power of denial. Great car, never an issue, just this.

Mine has all the performance options, and 470 crank Hp on the dyno.
Not sure if I'd call it wheel hop, but my PDK 991.2 C2S with X51 PowerKit shudders a lot thru first and second and even into 3rd gear on some dry pavements.
It's just the traction and stability controlling by the ECU to keep the car accelerating hard in a straight line, while controlling tire slip.

If the car had lsd then the traction control would not be doing the fuel cut so the actual issue is the lack of lsd.
Maybe. Here is a question for c4 guys. Can you just floor it going into a 90 degree from a stop in a c4 991.2?
I could in a base 991 and bet you could in a c4 991.2.
No way now in my 991.2 and that is on ps4s in the summer heat. C4 base 991.2 has got to be the bomb. I would consider trading in my base for a cpo version of that but with zero issues on my current car I just can't do it. Most dependable car I've ever had. Today
